it's an unsuccessful song that statistically made it to a good chart position, based on front loaded sales. Everything after the opening week has been a disaster. Worldwide it barely registered on the radar.

Honestly tho it was plastered all over AM and reached 11 on pop radio and could only manage 7 weeks top 40 

It was 100% a flop, the promo wasn't the problem. The rollout was perfect. The song wasn't liked by the GP. They said no at every turn lol

Yall the GP simply didn't like the song ok? No level of explanation will twist it into a moderate hit. Was it a "bigger" song than Perfect Illusion? Yes. But that does not make one a moderate hit cuz technically speaking PI bombed on the charts. Point is Stupid Love was a major underperformance. Was it "career ending" or "era ending" no lol cuz the good news is the GP just did not care for the song like at all. Not even enough to actively hate it. They just heard it, said no and moved right along. She can and will totally have a song that will do miles better and RoM will deff be that song so there is nothing to worry about.

For a leaked song that was playing in clubs and weddings way before its official release it has done pretty well. I hate how people expect Gaga to instantly captivate younger fans (who control what is popular) and have hits. Like no, these coming generations have their own artist they Stan. I think what Gaga has done right with chromatica she has opened up herself to allow other people to have creative influence on her work. Before Gaga was so closed off from Hollywood im glad she is collaborating more. I hope she collaborates with more people as time goes on. What has been hurting Gaga's career is that she in the past did not collaborate with more artist around her, I feel that limited the fandom crossovers allowing for all the fandom wars that happened in the past to occur. (Not saying it was gaga's fault btw) One of the main reasons I stopped hating on beyonce was because she collaborated with Gaga. I instantly support an artist who mentions Gaga as an inspiration and I'm sure fans of those artist have instant respect for Gaga because she helped said artist chase their dreams. 

Gaga please collaborate more with artists, at the end of the day you are only spreading more joy and building connections which are essential to having success. We love what Gaga has to say with her music but we also would like to see what kind of music would gaga make with many other artists. 

If Gaga was like Nicki Minaj hopping on many tracks as a feature she would have so many hits.

I agree but in hindsight, there wasn't really a better lead single on Joanne. "A-yo" and others aren't much better and wouldn't have done much better. "Perfect Illusion" is actually not a bad song, but the vocals ruined it. Unfortunately no one in her team could hear that, so all they saw was a good song.
