Slay! Jk, I don’t think Sweden’s way could work in many places. I know for sure it couldn’t in the US. Yea, but they counted all the deaths. NYT made an article about how many more deaths from covid could be unreported all over the world. Their model found that Sweden is one of the countries who overeported them. They have to be honest with their people, if they want this strategy to work.

I think whilst geographically its at a slight advantage given the situation, NZ's success has actually had more to do with their leaders lockdown approach and the timing of it. There were cases in NZ, but the way they tackled it initially is the reason why it never spread there. Look at Greece's geographical position - literally next door to Italy, Turkey etc. It's neighbours are being beaten by the virus and Greece itself has had little over 100 deaths and has reported a second day of zero cases of the virus all due to how aggressive their lockdown strategy was and how quickly it came about. I don't think geographical location plays a huge part in countries success re: containing Covid19 the more I read into the stats. Lona Delery 7,227
idk why antibodies are brought up as an argument rn. we have no idea how long, or even if they protect u against a 2nd infection. there haven been ppl in asia who contracted covid twice within a short period of time Sometimes it feels like I've got a war in my mind, I wanna get off but I keep riding the ride
Mister G 10,515
Ooooh Sweden needs to be protected. That’s where ABBA and Ace of Base members are from; they’re international treasures.

There are other factors also like density, weather, lifestyle, age, pollution. The measures were important also. The reality is that it is soon to know who did good or bad. Sweden strategy will look bad if tomorrow there will be a treatment. New Zealand strategy will look bad if one year from now, the number of deaths will be similar to other countries. It is a developing story.

In general, antibodies offer protection. The question is for how long.

Taiwan's response has been stellar in spite of its geographical proximity to China, and they never had to shut down anything. As for the WHO, I hope by now that people will look upon their advice with appropriate skepticism. She/Her/Hers
