It's a bop that's not meant to be taken seriously, I love it :flutter: And I'm mad that they removed the "hey kids, spelling is fun" part

Stunning video but an awful, awful song.

It's kind of crazy how Taylor Swift, who is usually incredibly savvy, looked at the current music landscape - plus the fact that her own fans are older now - and thought that 'ME!' was the answer.

ESPECIALLY when the Lover album shows signs of real progression and musical maturity - like in 'Lover' and 'Miss Americana' most notably but in so many other tracks, too.

Crazy!

Spoiler

And as much as I love Stupid Love and think it is a 'better' song than 'ME!' - I do think, based on what we've heard so far, we might be in for a similar mindfu*k when we hear Chromatica and reflect on SL as the lead.

Unpopular opinion, but I love ME!:diane:

It’s so fun and brings me in a good mood. It’s not a masterpiece or anything, but it does what it was made for. Another unpopular opinion, but I miss the “hey kids, spelling is fun!” part:selena: It’s feel so empty now that they removed it

It's not that awful as y'all complain
Yeah, the song is super basic but it is intended to be a radio song

I was actually thinking about this last night how confusing the choice was especially considering everything on the album. The only possible reasons would have been for the aesthetics and the feature.

But I think she wants to attempt to reconnect with younger audiences again because she will be releasing her re-recordings soon-ish and wants those to hit with the kids, but to do that she needs to be on the front of their minds. So by releasing a song which is very obviously targeted at them (in Miss Americana she even mentions that she wants little kids to sing the lyrics) she will hopefully be able to reconnect with kids again.

Aside from this it was just to achieve a full 180 from reputation (in sound, look, tone, colour, aesthetics etc.), cause no other song on the album is as 180 as ME! like there are basic bops on their but nothing else like this. And Brendon was probably cause she wanted to work with him but also cause she knew he would peak interest, like it every reaction video they commented on it.

So while I think that she was trying to show growth to fans through the album I think in general she just wanted a 180 from rep. And I think that maturity will (hopefully) come through on TS8 cause rn the aesthetics are looking SO GOOD (she has had the hardest time keeping the pastel aesthetic, she has basically given up. Just look at her instagram, she doesn't have have a pastel colour icon. The aesthetic has completely changed and if this:
