She’s done it. 

 

This woman has eclipsed the boundaries of fame into legend status. Her emotional intelligence, artistic prowess and integrity is the stuff that separates her from her contemporaries. What we just witnessed was the Live Aid of our generation. She is now in the category of Bono, Paul McCartney, Sting, Oprah, MJ... and there is nobody delivering even close to what she is right now.

 

I remember when I was 17 and my mum (now a huge fan) used to joke about me living for Poker Face. But I always knew she was special. 

 

For all the negativity there is around Stupid Love, Chromatica delay.. sisters.. we just witnessed Gaga create history. She is bigger than her own art at this point. If you didn’t realise that already surely you will today. And you can have your opinions, sure, but rest assured knowing this icon is a catalyst and none of us will fully realise her impact for years to come. Not even she will. 

 

Think of these things - the recognition of women in music and songwriting, Don’t Ask Don’t Tell, Born This Way & LGBTQI visibility, bullying and kindness - these are all things she has come against head on and already tackled. Today was a true indication of what an incredible world leader and influence Lady Gaga is and what she is capable of. Ultimately it is a true representation of someone who can and has changed the world for the better. People live their entire life to not bring about even half the change she has in 12 short years.

 

In 2008 I was proud to tell my mother I was a fan. Today I am proud to tell the world about this icon who is changing it for the better. 

 

And - we should from today if not already, be grateful, be proud and be kind. But more importantly, as her biggest supporters and the people she has fought these battles for - many ongoing - live every moment with her message top of mind. It’s what she deserves.

Every year we watch her accomplish more and more, and we see her solidify her legend status. It makes me so emotional thinking of when I became a monster when I was 10, and how my parents always said that “it’s just a phase” and how “ she’ll disappear and become a nobody in a few years”. Well, here we are almost 11 years later and I’m so so happy that so many of us and Gaga were able to prove our parents and the world wrong

Agreed. Every day, we see her reach more towards legend status, and tonight just solidified that. I respected her when I was younger knowing what activism she did, but tonight... tonight made me respect her a whole lot more. She crafted a global concert for a great cause, and for each, and every one of us. I literally almost cried knowing how much she's helping change the world, as she said, one sequin at a time.

Yeah, my sister always said it's just a phase, and I always said let's see in ten years, and here we are, 12 years into her career, I've never been so in love with her rn.
