It's not ironic, it's purposeful. He's doubling down on getting turnout for him in the states that are key to his victory but have shown some lagging polls since 2017. That's the most problematic aspect. He doesn't care about people's health and wellbeing. He just wants to avoid losing and the eventual indictment by NY State.
