Chromatica Island 8,517
Does every song of hers need a deep meaning and not be a fun dance song? Any/All Pronouns, Genderfluid🏳⚧

TheSlash 14,539
Well, the thought she sings "I want just to be loved" rather than "I want your stupid love" in the chorus makes the song more interesting to me Ew, David!

ALGAYDO 32,658
Nnnnnnn leave it to Gaga fans to bitch about her not relaxing basic ass pop songs a la Heal me and WDYDT, but then bitch and complain when she releases a feel-good pop song like SL. The double standards, the hypocrisy, the meltdowns, the constant fighting..... this is what makes GGD the GGD we all know and have a love/hate relationship with

RickMonster98 7,462
It's VERY simple but not uninspired "You're the one that I've been waiting for Gotta quit this crying Nobody's gonna heal me if I don't open the door Kinda hard to believe (gotta have faith in me)" "Now it's time to free me from the chain I gotta find that peace, is it too late Or could this love protect me from the pain? I would battle for you (even if I break in two)" These verses are beautiful

The pre-chorus and the chorus, sure, aren’t anything special, but they’re also not really supposed to be....I forgot what interview it was exactly, but Gaga said that it was meant to be that way. I’m paraphrasing here, but essentially she said, “at the end of the day, I just want your stupid love!” As for the verses, I think that they are on the level of what she’s written before. They’re not the greatest, but also, they’re far from being “basic” and “uninspired”. I feel like people are only thinking that the lyrics are “basic” and “generic” because the song itself is a lot more mainstream than her previous work. If it had a different sound, people wouldn’t be complaining. Besides, JD and PF both have really simple and repetitive lyrics, yet no one complains about them... Man, I hate the sentiment that for a song to be good it has to have obscure lyrics with some hidden, deep meaning Imagine trying to put an artist in that box, it’s be exhausting. Listening to music would be tiring. Pop music would probably die, because unless people haven’t noticed, simplicity sells, and it’s where Gaga will see her most commercial success (not that she should pander) General audiences don’t want to work hard to understand songs. ****, I don’t even know where I’d find the time now (I had a lot more of it when I was a sad depressed teenager in my bedroom searching for deeper meaning in her lyrics)

Gaga was playing a character. Stupid Love is just as cliche, basic and generic as those ASIB songs. Except that Gaga does not play any character in a movie this time around. She released Stupid Love as lead single off her 6th studio album that marks 12 years in the music industry and is her long awaited return to dancepop.
