Is Stupid Love lyrically uninspired?

Smother Em Eh

This is not a hate thread or anything. I do enjoy the song but I came to the conclusion that it is just lyrically underwhelming. The song probably has the most boring, basic, repetitive & uninspired lyrics that she’s ever done even compared to her last 5 singles. Or most of her album tracks for that matter.

Does Stupid Love have uninspired lyrics? And is lyrically the most uninspired and basic Gaga song?

Discuss!

Yeah, they're very ordinary

I feel like it'll be the most generic, radio friendly song on the album and the others will hit harder and be more interesting

REALITY

To be honest, I don’t understand why people dislike the lyrics so much. The pre-chorus and the chorus, sure, aren’t anything special, but they’re also not really supposed to be....I forgot what interview it was exactly, but Gaga said that it was meant to be that way. I’m paraphrasing here, but essentially she said, “at the end of the day, I just want your stupid love!”

As for the verses, I think that they are on the level of what she’s written before. They’re not the greatest, but also, they’re far from being “basic” and “uninspired”.

I feel like people are only thinking that the lyrics are “basic” and “generic” because the song itself is a lot more mainstream than her previous work. If it had a different sound, people wouldn’t be complaining. Besides, JD and PF both have really simple and repetitive lyrics, yet no one complains about them...

I would say they aren’t up to par with her best but even those songs have more interesting lyrics then Stupid Love. Their bridges alone destroys Stupid Love in terms of more interesting lyrics. They still had the signature Gaga twist on them. Stupid Love lacks that!

No. Come on. Both songs are full of double meanings and turn a regular pop song into something that goes from sexy or heartbreaking. Even if they have a few cringy verses, like any Gaga song. But Stupid Love is just plain and basic and disjointed lyrically. It has been years since Gaga delivered a full Gaga song with her interesting twists, but The Fame lyrics were certainly full of them.

They’re basic and there’s no chorus other than her just saying I want your stupid love 50483838 times. All the tracks on Chromatica don’t have a chorus apparently so we lost....

Praying that it’s the worst song on the album so I can at least bop to 15 other iconic lyrically brilliant tracks
