The price is your vote.

TurboTax is a SCAM.

This. Don’t support these large tax organizations. Go to a local accountant who’ll probably help you out more and even give you better advice.

Omg why is it that this sketch from the Dave Chapelle show came to mind when I heard checks were being issued this week?

I went with TurboTax last year and found it pretty simple to use. However, this year I ran into problems when answering some extra questions and they tried to charge me. There was no way for me to get out of the paid tier without calling customer support and having them remove it, so I abandoned it and went with H&R Block. While both are scummy, at least H&R Block didn't try to charge me. Turbo Tax is currently facing lawsuits for misleading taxpayers in the same way it tried to mislead me, and is being further scrutinized by the government because it and other tax organizations recently came to an agreement that these companies would provide free tax filing software so that the government doesn't develop its own.

Wow yikes sorry that happened, I didn’t know about the lawsuits that’s interesting. It really is important to find and develop a relationship with an accountant (and other business advisors) you trust as you grow up and I wish they made a bigger deal about that in school.

I had the exact same problem. Then I found out that if you go to the IRS website they have a special link to turbo tax that does the taxes without NONE of the shitty charges and fees.

Yeah it affected millions of people if I remember correctly. Sadly any accountant in my area would charge me, which is fair since it's their job. I'd rather just figure out how to do my own taxes though because I'm stingy.

Yeah, I believe it's the same link I used to find the H&R Block one.

My brother and I received our but my mother hasn't.

I thought that was weird.
