Tell me something what about Canada is so appealing to progressive Americans?

 

I only ask cuz realistically Canada is only extremely progressive when it comes to human rights and anti discrimination laws. That's maybe where we have a history of being among the first in the world to always accept new social progressive thinking

 

But in terms of economy, education and even healthcare there are many European Countries that are more progressive than Canada

 

If i were to compare our tax rates with American tax rates (especially on the rich and Corporations) and how many segments of our healthcare are actually still privatized and not part of the Universal Healthcare system u might be surprised

 

The way Americans describe Canada's system... I think u guys have an exagerated perspective of how progressive our system actually is. Were actually closer to US Capitalism than European Centre-Left economics in many major things tbh

 

I don't know why you're assuming I'm American, maybe it's because I participated too much in the US presidential election threads  I'm actually from the middle east. Our economy is one of the worst in the world and we have absolutely nothing going for us. Not just Canada, even the US is seen as paradise compared to here. So that's why I said I wished I were canadian

Also Americans tend to be the most likely to describe Canada as some kind of paradise for some reason

 

Our human rights are more advanced but our economic system is extremely simmilar

 

Even healthcare which is probably our biggest difference, like I said it still isn't as Universal as much of Europe. Many Countries there have coverage on stuff we do not

I definitely would choose Europe over America for a place to move. Not just for the above reasons but also culturally. But if I had to choose between Canada and the US I think I would go for Canada for the human rights thing and the general opinion that people are nicer  though I always say the best thing about living in the US would be the abundance of concerts from all artists.

Having been to the US multiple times in different States I would say on average yeah I think we're a little nicer.

 

Especially in some big cities like Newark or Jersey city people all seemed afraid to talk to strangers and shady and were so cold and I never seen any area in Canada were ppl seemed that shady and cold 

 

But to be fair it also varies by area. There's parts of the States where people are more friendly just like in Canada people are more friendly in some areas than others so u can only generalize so much

 

Overall I still found people more friendly in Portugal (where I used to live) than here in Canada on average tbh

 

Oh and Canada especially here in Toronto, artists always come here so we have the same. North American legs almost always include Canadian cities like Toronto and Vancouver minimum and often Montreal
