Fighting COVID shouldn't mean limiting human rights

People give away their rights and liberty during times of crisis. When 9/11 happened, they changed the law and took away Americans rights openly and its still practiced today.

that is a very important issue, although we also have to accept some temporary impediment in certain situations. The bottom line is it has to be done only under an absolutely necessary basis and limited in scope and time. i do hope that the media and other stakeholders of society will monitor government action.

While what you say isnt false, people understand more the situation and the limitations and hopefully governments wont be able to abuse this.

I must say. I am disappointed in how the media is handling this, especially tv networks. 

Even the publications I usually trust have been slow in offering balanced informations and opinions.

Well society also has to learn that rights and freedoms have their limits especially during hard circumstances

 

You still need an Authority and leadership and people have to follow direction and laws

 

And in special circumstances like now, those laws and directions will be more stringent than usual

 

As long as a government isn't being abusive, people need to learn not to be so allergic to the concept of authority and that we don't always do whatever we want whenever we want.

 

A functional society with cohesion requires a head/leader (Government) and in cases during a crisis like now even more so. Imagine not following social distancing and putting lives at risk because "you don't feel like being confined" on the grounds that the Government "doesn't have the right to tell you where you can and cant go"

it’s extremely worrisome that governments aren’t introducing sunset laws. 

as both an american and canadian, i do hold on to the fact that Apple has refused to give the government user info (most notably, they refused to give the FBI access to the phone of a deceased mass murder). Hopefully private corporations are able to hold onto their privacy laws.
