KindnessPunk28 1,506
Perfect Illusion is literally one of the greatest songs ever I chose Applause, not because I hate it but because it gave me the expectation the album it was on would be something immaculate, but got a mess instead

It's memorable and controversial. The 2nd single definitely had to be TEOG (or MTN) instead of petty and samey Judas. ToxicHot 6,444
Perfect Illusion - hands down. I’d also like to say MAYBE Stupid Love but we haven’t heard any other full songs from Chromatica yet. That’s not fair. So we shall see. I truly think Dancin’ in Circles should’ve been a single, if not the lead single. Truly, TRULY a lost cause. Perfect Illusion literally was not promoted much at all aside from radio interviews. She performed it literally twice before the album was out?? Once at the Dive Bar and the other in Japan (on the piano). Correct me if I’m wrong. As much as I LOVE Perfect Illusion, it’s one of those hidden gems that I think only real fans appreciate.... It was paid a lot of dust. In retrospect, Joanne was her least commercial album. I mean, the only radio-friendly song is Million Reasons (I guess, for POP radio. Maybe songs like A-YO and Joanne could’ve smashed on country radio? Diamond Heart, maybe Perfect Illusion for rock/alternative radio??). There are so many INCREDIBLE songs on the album but I guess she really didn’t have much choice in which songs could’ve been successful. Looking back, maybe Perfect Illusion really is the strongest song on the album but the general public still didn’t get it. dOnT sAd ReAcT mE 2 bE sHaDy i WiLL RePoRt U!!1! God Control 2,181
Stupid Love I’m actually surprised Perfect Illusion is winning, like what would you rather have release? PI, Joanne, Million Reasons and maybe Ayo are like the only songs that are listenable on the album, no offense, and none of them as as exciting for a lead single as PI. July Faro 14
Gaga was right, Aura should have been the first single to ARTPOP. The order should have gone: .Aura .Applause .Venus .Do What U Want .Sexxx Dreams .G.U.Y .Gypsy Justice for Sexxx Dreams as a single, and justice for Heavy Metal Lover for BTW. Our hoe singles we'll be avenged.

But the way her team where so thirsty to get a hit single (understandable) on top with the way they presented it and the petty controversy they tried to garner, it just doesn't sit well with me lol! They should've taken a risk with MTN or TEOG. They sound different enough. I'll WRECK U right Up...G.U.Y.!!!🌋💥

whore 11,447
I love "Perfect Illusion" but it was not lead single material. The lead is supposed to be representative of the album it's coming from, and something like "A-YO" or "Diamond Heart" would have been better. "Perfect Illusion" is still single-worthy, but maybe second or third single.
