If China had maintained sanitation or at least controlled the virus in 2019, 2020 would have been far better.

The Comparisions to the flu need to stop, It's got similarities but they are very different.

Covid-19 Has a suspected Fatality rate of 1-3% The Flu has 0.01%.

2% of people with the flu usually have to be hospitalized, 20-30% of people with Covid-19 have had to be.

There's no Vaccine for Covid-19, Nobody in the world has ever had this virus before so there's no Herd Immunity like there is with the flu every year. People who have had the flue strain of the year or who got the vaccine act as barriers in the chain of the virus spreading. This isn't the case with this virus which is why we all have to be apart.

Then you have things like the Symptoms not showing for almost two weeks in comparison to one or two days with the Flu and the fact that It's twice as contagious as the flu.

Stop.

Countries all around the world had MONTHS to figure out a plan after China announced the virus on December 31st. Basically no one outside China was infected at that point.

However, countries such as the USA and U.K. were laughing at China for forcing such ‘extreme measures’, like school shutdowns, work closures and mandatory quarantines.

Fast forward three months later, the world is falling apart with thousands of deaths. And guess why? This is because the governments of these countries laughed it off as just a flu until it actually started to affect people in their own country.

The US is the center point of this pandemic now. And they were the ones critizizing China all this time for ‘not taking enough action’

Well, I’m sorry, but if the USA took three months to act on this, VS. three weeks for China to announce the virus... that’s all I have to say

You're correct partially. The US is not prepared in anyway to deal with a pandemic. You could blame China all you want and it's rightfully due. But let's not pretend that the US didn't downplay the extend of this virus for almost a month and 1/2. The UK downplayed it the most and now it's PM has the damn virus.

Look what he says.

0,2 % fatality rate for covid without a vaccine versus 0,1% to the flu that has a vaccine.

Again, we dont know for now if it is 0,2% or 0,5% or higher. That is because testing is controlled by most countries. But at 0,2% are the measures justified, especially considering the effects?

And if the extreme measures are justified for you, for how long they should be in place? Who will be guilty for the future victims of economic recession, hunger, domestic abuse?

Why didn’t the rest of the world just do what you are suggesting China could’ve done then?

obviously all countries were laughing at China but I just wanted to say that the virus could have been stopped at China itself without the chaos world is facing. No other country tried to interfere and help China to stop Virus spreading.

why am I getting dragged left and right today? :wtfga:

To respond to the twitter idiot in the original post, if the flu occurred over the same time frame that covid is occurring right now, we would have a shut down every year because the healthcare system can NOT handle it.

If someone told him that he could kill himself and covid would go away, would he do it? I doubt it. That’s what he is asking of millions of other people.

I am just saying that this could have been stopped at ground level. Obviously everyone underestimated the virus situation and world is suffering

Babe, stop saying this incorrect statement. It could not have been stopped or it would be stopped.

I actually read an article about how some countries were able to control it. We are talking about HongKong, Taiwan, Singapore and I think even Japan. It seems they were more prepared for this because they had cases of SARS some years ago. That means that the rest of the world will also be prepared next time around, if that helps. :laughga:

its not all about the mortality rate.

the difference to the regular flu is how contagious it is. we need these extreme measures to flatten the curve so hospitals wont collapse under the amount of patients they need to treat

Sometimes it feels like I've got a war in my mind, I wanna get off but I keep riding the ride

I am not spokesperson for every other country. How will I know?.

I am just mentioning the fact that if the virus had not escaped China, the world wouldn't be suffering right now

let's hope next time something like this happens every country acts to protect it's country and also collaborate with each other to restrict virus spread.
