Miel 15,009
The Way He Looks is a cute movie with a very unique premise. I really liked it when I watched it way back when (in high school I think, holy crap). 11 minutes ago, THATFoxyFeeling said: I wasn't a big fan of Love Simon, it was really tame. God's Own Country is the best gay film I've watched in years, it's up there with Brokeback Mountain. I watched this one in college and was blown away. Stunning, and although it was still pretty emotionally volatile (obviously in a manner positive to the film itself), I was so so so glad that, like... nobody died. I was all too ready for that trope to come in. 3 points in and ready for more

Spoiler God, that scene where they make out with their "girlfriends" while staring each other across the room hit different. Liberaté mi amor

The whole movie is about his struggling with accepting being gay tho...

Because for once homosexuality is treated as a common thing and not being questioned by every damn character? IMO Love, Simon is the blandest popular teen movie from the last years, full of internalised-homophobia scenes and a pretty sad depiction of friendship. For you enjoyment or knowledge in queer films (with gay romance), you might be interested in Xavier Dolan' cinematography (I Killed My Mother, Heartbeats, Tom at the Farm), Jonas, Week-end, Beats Per Minute, And Then We Danced, God's Own Country, Mysterious Skin, My Own Private Idaho, Bad Education, Happy Together, But I'm A Cheerleader... @GaGaAst

But since OP mentioned Love, Simon, I meant it more in a gay love-story way. Does it matter? Damage is done

Ive seen two from here. I liked My Own Private Idaho. Mysterious Skin was kinda mixed for me since I was really invested in the whole alien thing and then it turned out to be nothing. But definitely a great movie. And the topic of the movie itself was very important. Will check out the other ones if I can. Does it matter? FRANK1991 3,323
Love , Simon is a bit too corny at times but it's a film that's trying to appeal to the general public and works pretty well with the GP. I think the intention is good so I'm not too critical about it as it shines a light on gay theme movies. Shelter, God's Own Country, My GBF are all great! I generally hate romance films coz straight love have no emotional pull on me I also love a happy ending. Not every gay romance film has to be tragic and I think Hollywood sometimes forgets that Tho I just said that I also highly recommend the very sad movie Prayers for Bobby (I was not prepared) and the sentimental Boy Erased. Both are powerful true stories. Cause once you let it go you better know it's gone
