I haven’t touched a human being in well over a month, and I haven’t planned to for the next while, I live alone and I still have to go to work, feeling more mentally unwell day after day. So stop stigmatizing Gay People. I know a lot of heterosexual people who don’t follow the social distancing and the rules set in place, visiting relatives and friends, going out in groups, etc., this is not a Gay issue.

I dont think its homophobic, gays are always at more risk to catch anything, just cause most have so many sexual partners. It's not like this is any news. Or are we pretending to be in some bubble, where this is not true? I mean, i have had a lot of sexual partners, and so has any gay that i know of. Of course this is not true for all gays, but for many it is, so there is no reason to pretend like she is saying something mean.

This is not like HIV, being transmitted by blood, semen, etc. This is transmitted even by talking. By saliva, nasal and other mucus. So how exactly is talking to people not just as bad as hooking up?

Your internalized homophobia is showing by saying gays are more at risk to catch ANYTHING.

The gheys aren't taking any of this seriously. Guys are promoting orgies in my area constantly. I literally saw a profile that advertised a Quarantine orgy..

It’s so hard not to go out. I’ve been talking to this guy for a couple of weeks, and we finally want to meet... It’s planned for Saturday, and I was only going to go to his place, but I don’t know if I should now.

Don’t. I’m in a similar situation, I just started talking to someone right before this pandemic blew up. I wish I would’ve started dating him sooner so we didn’t have to stay apart, but it’ll be worth it when this is all over. Hang in there.

So talking is the same as kissing, having sex etc.? It's not homophobia, it's just logic. If you have 10 sexual partners a week and share fluids, it's not the same as talking to 10 people. By sharing fluids, you will contract it easier. Why is this so hard to understand?

People who identify as lesbian, gay or bisexual are more likely than straight people to rate their health as poor and to have more chronic conditions, according to research by the Kaiser Family Foundation, a U.S. health policy analysis group.

According to 2018 government data, gay and bisexual men account for more than two-thirds of U.S. HIV diagnoses, and CDC data in 2017 found the percentage of trans people diagnosed with HIV was triple the national average.

Sorry, but only calling out gay people for hooking up, reeks of internalised homophobia.

the truth of this.

straight people are equally not following directives. On what data, studies, do this woman and y'all rely on to assert that gays break the rules more the during this pandemic?

I think you're just looking for something that confirms your preconceived ideas and unconscious biases about "gay men" (and as if this was a monolithic block of people all acting the same).

truly dangerous and perpetuating what LGBTQ activists have been fighting against for decades.

I understand her concern - but why specifically target the LGBTQ+ community? It’s not just them!!! It’s almost a form of discrimination, I mean sure gays/etc. go out a lot but don’t project the blame on a SPECIFIC classification of people based on sexuality. If anything, her statement could’ve been targeted towards young people.

So without any evidence whatsoever, be it medical or statistical, on the issue at hand, you are ready to assert/presume that gays are spreading covid-19 more than the rest of the population? Am I following this right?

If so, I officially have seen it all.

Like I said, internalized homophobia.

Grindr even puts disclaimers out that chatting is cool, meeting people for whatever reason is not. And most people I talked to there agree with me saying „it‘s not the right time for having dates, but let‘s stay in contact until this situation gets better“.

EDIT: And by talking to (straight) friends, I haven’t heard of other dating apps doing the same.
