I'm sorry. I cant agree with the way she puts it. It's not like straight people dont do the same thing.

It’s so hard not to go out. I’ve been talking to this guy for a couple of weeks, and we finally want to meet... It’s planned for Saturday, and I was only going to go to his place, but I don’t know if I should now.

You shouldn’t.

Sorry, but only calling out gay people for hooking up, reeks of internalised homophobia.

Yeah im surprised more people earlier in the thread were not discussing how this is lowkey homophobic. Grindr in my town is dead rn compared to how it usually is. Gay clubs have cancelled their events like other venues.

I don't see this as a gay issue at all. There are people from all walks of life disrespecting the stay at home advisories

Clearly this just goes to show many gay people have sex addictions and harmful fetishes and it adds to the stereotype that gay people are sex crazed and disease-infested...

If you cant stay inside for a month and just use your hand or sex toys to get off...you have issues...not even an argument

but why just blame gay men why not just blame people in general and straight men can have sex addictions too and the only thing that this shows how homophopic this article is

I can see how this could be homophobic, but as the nurse themself is a LGBT+ person, I understood it more like someone giving advice to the community they're part of, kinda like a friend talking to a friend. Also, in many parts of the world there's more gay people living with HIV, and we know that COVID-19 on someone that's not undetectable could be fatal. :ohno:

Edit: Also in the article it says that it was posted on a LGBT+ subreddit, so of course it's targeted to these people.

What the hell is wrong with you? What don’t you understand about the situation we’re in? Putting other people’s health at risk because you’ve been talking to a guy for a couple of weeks?! GURL. Have a word with yourself. :madge:

Mythos

I dont think its homophobic, gays are always at more risk to catch anything, just cause most have so many sexual partners. It's not like this is any news. Or are we pretending to be in some bubble, where this is not true? I mean, i have had a lot of sexual partners, and so has any gay that i know of. Of course this is not true for all gays, but for many it is, so there is no reason to pretend like she is saying something mean.

Those saying the nurse is being homophobic are idiots, period. Can't you tell that the nurse is simply giving advice to a community she cares about? She wants to target the LGBT community with her comment, there's nothing wrong with that, get off your high horses.

This 100%. They’re speaking to our community, not trying to bring us down.
