Main pop girl is above and beyond pop princess :oprah:

No it's not. Queen of pop and pop princess >>>>> main pop girl.

Britney is the OG pop princess.

Britney is the OG pop princess.

But Selena is the actual pop princess, so whats the truth. Anyways, lets just agree that this song in particular is iconic and one of the best songs of all time, in the level of Mozart, Schubert and Bach

Absolutely. It is one of those songs that anyone could have sang and it would have propelled them to super star status. That said Britney brought so much oompf to the music video which is in part why the song was so successful as well. That MV was so well done (for its time).

I sometimes wonder what would happen if some songs were given to other artists and how much that could have changed their careers etc...Britney was already established and a mega star by the time she released Toxic but it definitely helped cement her legacy and gave her career a much needed boost on the singles charts.

Kween Brit REVIVED pop upon ha debut. Recall that in the mid 90s pop took a nosedive as gangsta rap, grunge and alternative rock (aka screaming and whining) became the new thing. What Britney did was pretty much rescusitate pop from a coma. She and Gaga are very similar in that they both unleashed a new wave of pop. They are both instant pop gurls...saviours to be precise.

How the song sound generic? They literally find a instrumental for a movie that came decades ago then they tracked the sound of a movie back to a 60s surf guitar sound that is related to James Bond movies and THEEEEEN they use that sound backwards, satanist inspired :billie:

Agree with Bad Romance, i think Toxic, Bad Romance, Thriller are such a perfect triada. I wanted to name a Madonna song so badly but i just dont think she have one. She have a loooooot of great songs, but not like this iconic status masterpiece. Maybe frozen?

True true, maybe I don't mean generic. I think I'm trying to say the sound is still experimental, but still poppy enough that it can be enjoyed by anyone.

Get the pinot ready, because it's turtle time.

Well i do agree but i find Britney early songs so terrible and bubblegummish. So i tend to ignore her early efforts. Plus Selegend brought also a new sound with Godd for you and everybody follow even Britney with Glory so you should include her in your icons list and give her credit with Gaga, Madonna, Britney dont you agree?giphy.gif

So iconic and so well produced. It also has a timeless quality, you never listen to it feeling it’s dated or aged like milk

Thank you, i cant believe its been almost 20 years since it came out, also Britney in Toxic ( in the diamonds scene) looks like the doll in your avi, the color of the hair, the bangs, the eyes and the tan

Surely Hung up.  My friends are also obsessed with 4 minutes for some reason, even the ones that don't like madonna at all
