So we’re just meant to sit back and wash our hands? I don’t know what to do about this virus anymore. I want to protect everyone around me yet I’m not in a position where I can self isolate yet.

I can't believe how people are discussing this policy like it's anything remotely okay. The talk about having to distribute the 'hospitalizations' over as long a period as possible while it's STILL very possible to contain the virus, is like talking about distributing people over gas chambers so they don't overload it. They mention that 15% could be hospitalized, but do they mention 1 million people could die? If this happens, I expect (a) a revolt and (b) BoJo being sued for crimes against humanity. Because that's how bad it is. It's as bad as Stalin letting people Ukrainians die from hunger. And the fact that nobody seems outraged makes it even worse  . People are just 'meh, this is bad'. Where is the outrage? Where are the protests? The UK govt is there for its people, not any other way.

 

still thinking this whole talk is just expectation management, where BoJo comes with a quarantine measure for everyone next week and everyone loves him more because they expected to literally die.

Sorry, but that doesn't mean he WANTS that outcome. That's what YOU want to believe he wants. He just isn't sugar-coating anything - kinda applauding him for that. Many deaths are inevitable, hun. I ain't biased cos I hate someone, or because my party didn't get in to parliament, but you sound like you are. That's literally all it is. I agree he ain't the best or most trustworthy man, but cmon 🤣🤣 UK isn't on lockdown because they're trying a different strategy out. We'll be on lockdown soon, don't worry

This is the 1000th time I've heard this non-sense argument. You will live the virus blah blah blah WE GET IT. But are you aware that you can pass it to those more vulnerable? And people in Italy and Spain are dying because the whole health system is collapsing under the sheer number of people who need hospitalization, even those who could have survived had they received treatment.  

Please read some statistics - Yeah, I suggest you do it first.

It's really not non-sense. It's fact. I'm aware I can pass it on, like??! Why are you assuming I don't know this ****? Stop putting words in my mouth and painting me something I'm not. Your argument is futile, cos I haven't once denied coronavirus? I just said I personally ain't scared, for me. Not ignorant, just honest, cos I ain't. Panic is causing people to do stupid **** and trust me - panic doesn't keep people sane. It spirals out of control until it facilitates bad events to occur 

Keep the debate nice and playful ffs and don't call people ignorant because of their opinion. I'll do everything in my power to prevent passing it to the elderly if I ever catch it, but unfortunately, I work in healthcare, and I'm the last person who will be sent home for a lockdown. I have to be extra careful.

Lol for someone who claims to work in healthcare, your first reaction to hearing that a massive proportion of a country will get the virus is to try and play it down with 'I still ain't scared' means you are either super ignorant, like to play tough, or just plain indifferent to human suffering - not sure which is worse. 

Instead of painting yourself as some kind of nihilist tough guy, maybe show some compassion?

I don't have to claim, I do. I ain't scared because most people will be fine. Do you know how many people I seen die from the flu so far this year? Just stop. I ain't arguing with someone whose only defense in an argument is to paint someone as something they're not. You're sour and haven't stopped coming for me. I ain't here for it. I work in healthcare, I see way more than you. Where's the panic over sepsis, huh? I ain't about compassion. It's the elderly and those with underlying health conditions that need protecting - 97% will fend it off just fine. The panic needs to stop. It doesn't help. Although, I do find it weird how our government said a massive proportion will get the virus yet other countries haven't said something similar. Either way, we'll be fine and we just need to do our best to fight it

They're talking about using private hospitals and hotels as alternatives.  

It's a f*cking mess. A mess that could have been avoided two months ago if all the world governments had got together to put a temporary ban on travel to and from China. But they didn't. Because money. So now we're in a situation where we'll be in a global recession for years.
