Different times and different situations. Streaming/ digital downloads weren't a thing back then and artists can only rely on physical sales for success. People were still able to go out and busy themselves with their jobs when the tragedy happend. Unlike with COVID, where people are forced/asked to stay in their homes, and they can only do limited things like watch TV or listen to music. If anything, people need entertainment to distract themselves from the pandemic.

No. Not at all. Of anything this is the perfect time to release. It’s a fun dance album, she said it’s her dancing through the pain. This would be a great way to shine some light into the world. Anyway, I’m sure the cases will have started slowing down by that point

I agree. We need new music. And we want it.  But on a economical point of view is not smart to release anything new right now, hence all new movies postponed. Same with TV shows. 
I want Chromatica soon too, I just know that for a company is not smart to release it now. Don’t be surprised if Interscope postpones the release, not Gaga. 
We also don’t want an album and a era forever showed by a global pandemic. Just my 2 cents

I feel like it could have a negative impact on her album promotion but no more than anyone else’s. Sure physical sales may be low, but so would everyone else’s. Some people may have more time to stream on repeat. At the end of the day I’m just excited for new music though, I don’t care as much about chart success, I just want her to be able to see out her era to the fullest.

She was still touring while the Swine Flu was running rampant - infected 60 million Americans - killed about 18k Americans — and then she proceeded to release the Fame Monster about a month after Obama declared a state of emergency. She’ll be releasing Chromatica a month after Trump declared a state of emergency. So no there’s no reason to delay the album during a pandemic that’s less deadly considering she released her most iconic album during another more deadly pandemic

No one buys physical albums unless they do so on Amazon. And as others have said, we're all stuck at home. I've listening to WAY more music than I normally do. I think it's only going to help

 

That said, I hope the pandemic has mellowed out by then.

I think artists should keep their release dates. Idk what LABELS want to do with their corporate greed but - for someone like Gaga I'd imagine it's important for this music to be out in the world ESPECIALLY at a time like this. We need music to be happy and feel good. This album is about dancing the pain away and tbh Gaga's career is more than stable and she has all the money she needs and I don't think anyone should care as much as they do about charts and promo. The fans want the album and it'll give us something to do and have hope with during quarantines and self-isolation. I'm personally dropping an EP that was scheduled for next Thursday (May 19th - first day of Spring) and all my friends are still super looking forward to it because it gives us an opportunity to escape and to have something to talk about and be busy with. It's one thing to postpone it for the sake of sales and promotion, but I think it's more important to just deliver this unto the world because it's not putting anyone in danger if we're all having a good time streaming online from the comfort of our homes.

Why would she? Releasing or not releasing the album doesn't change whatever is going on with the virus from spreading...

We have waited long enough and I'm not gonna let a global pandemic get in the way of Chromatica...if I'm gonna die from this...I wanna hear the album on my death bed...thanks

This is why it needs to be a visual album on Netflix, half of the world will be quarantined and stuck at home so why not watch the world of Chromatica via Netflix special?

There needs to be tv ads and radio ads for this album. Capitalize on streaming platforms.

I really hope they go all out on promotion for this album.
