That had a couple of reasons actually. I’m only 19 so I didn’t really grew up with Madonna in the first place. My first real experience was the whole Madonna/Gaga feud because I’ve been a LM since I was 11. That really hurt my view on Madonna and it made me want nothing to do with her. Very childish, I know, but I was only 12:rip:

If you’re interested in my Madonna discography journey this is the thread that got me into her music:

Damn I thought I made this in 2018, but apparently it was already the beginning of 2019:poot:

I feel so old :enigma: the first album I ever bought with my "real" money (i.e. the first album that my parents bought just for me and not to share with my older sister) was Music in 2000 :air:

but happy you saw the light and got into her music! I'll check the thread out

who will love me when the night is over

Oh boo! That's why it performed so well and the tour is doing great. :laughga:

A person shouldn't measure success solely on an album performance, specially when Madonna is far from a 20-something pop-hit girl that is currently dominating the charts.

She's like the established GOAT of pop, with more hits than can fit in two-hands, an unrivalled discography and videography, the highest-grossing tour, and the record for most sold records. Today, there's no point in comparing her chart performance at 61 with Madame X with for example Arianna's chart performance at 25 with Thank U, Next. Completely different. In any case, Madonna still got a number 1 in the BB200 with Madame X, so not bad at all.

And as for the tour, despite her injuries and associated cancellations, it had a total 75 sold out shows, so it definitely did great. :whitney:

It's really great to see new Madonna fans and even more exciting to see that recent albums are becoming favorites. Madonna really is the Queen of Pop and I understand why so many people disliked Madame X, it is quite polarizing and the auto tune can be a bit too much sometimes but that's part of Mirwais' touch.

Anyway, I think my Top 5 albums are:

1. Ray of Light

2. Confessions

3. American Life

4. Music

5. Either Bedtime Stories or Madame X right now, but Rebel Heart also has a lot of songs I enjoy.

I do love her 80's music but since I didn't really listen to her around that time and only the singles from those albums, I usually skip album tracks from her first 4.

My grandma also had a  very successful tour between hospitals too. :queenga:

This album aged like milk. Haven’t gone back to any of it since it was released. Too much autotune, no replay value...

I love this album too, not a huge fan of Madonna music, but this record is so good and God Control is a masterpiece. I can't believe she did it 36 years into her career, I don't think any other pop girls could ever do this (except, well maybe Gaga)

My favorite albums:

1. True Blue

2. Confessions

3. Bedtime Stories

4. Madame X

5. Erotica

(Not a fan of ROL though :fan:)

Tea! A wonderful album and deserves way more praise:tony:

I know someone who definitely agrees with you on this one and (I believe) it's his favourite Madge album: @BadGurlMadge:ally:

Yes! Erotica, Like a Prayer & Bedtime Stories is her holy trinity and I cannot believe how people snubs the album like always

Ahh, I'm sorry to hear that! That's really unfortunate:( The tour was sadly a mess at the end. It was so sad to follow, because the whole idea of a theatre was so cool and it totally fit the album. But the tour had too much setbacks. Is it confirmed to be filmed btw? If so, I can't wait to watch it:giveup: The LQ snippets people secretly recorded don't do it justice:laughga:

Our minds!

Yes!! She filmed in Portugal (since she recorded Madame X there, it makes so much sense) and the good part is she filmed when the setlist was complete! So we're getting the best version of the concert!! :firega: (I just hope it won't take as long as the RHT did :laughga:)

Actually, the tour was what made me appreciate the album even more. The show was so special because of the theatre setting and no phone policy. And it felt soo inspired, multicultural and political, I was very into it the whole time. Every single detail felt very well thought out. So for me the tour was probably the best part. Even though I have to admit, the injury cancellations made it look a bit messy and covid-19 definitely didn’t help either. But hey, props to her for sticking to her tour and fighting through her injury! She still did more than most.
