Bjaf 1,336
I think that’s such an interesting question, one that I’ve asked myself many times, and I have yet to find a truly satisfying answer. Of course, there’s something to be said about her aesthetic as a whole, her attitude, her unique and "strange" vision when it comes to fashion & music, her reinventing herself over and over, etc. But to me, there’s more to it. At the time I started being drawn to her as an artist (just before Bad Romance came out), I wasn’t exactly "aware" of my being queer yet, I was still very young. It turns out that the friends I had made then also loved her, and most turned out to be gay. I don’t know if there’s a single explanation for it. It feels like there’s this stronger force that pulls us all towards certain people that we feel are accepting and loving and willing to express themselves by breaking down the boundaries imposed by heteronormative standards. I think we craved this kind of energy back then, considering it lacked from the mainstream scene. And I think she might have been the most exposed artist at the time who represented all of those things. But, truly, as I said, I think there’s more to it: how is it possible that gays from all over the world felt drawn to her almost simultaneously? Babel 41,308
In my personal opinion, queer people are usually more freely creative, just as she was in the beginning and still is up until now. We also appreciate a person defying the norm, a strong female figure, a woman that speaks her mind. I also became a fan of hers before BTW, so that album was just the icing of the cake and sealed the deal.

I was discussing this with some other friends from here, and I'm really curious to know others' thoughts as well. I know that with BTW that LGBTQ+ was pulled to Gaga, but I'm wondering even before that. What was it/is it that attracts LGBTQ+ to Gaga? What was it in the early years that made you a fan and made you continue to be fan? I think it's a great sociology type discussion and makes me want to go continue reading my book from @gagafrontrow. Hide contents I should add that I was watching my weekly viewing of TMB 2.0 which made me think about this. Babylon Dynasty 1,806
I don't know exactly, but for me another question is: Why people can't stop their prejudice and let a comunity stan their fav artist(this question isn't for anyone here), so many people asked me if I was gay when they noticed I loved gaga, the only 4 persons that didn't asked me were my mom, my dad, my aunt and one of my closest friends, that's annoying, I think that is the reason why so many heteros don't want to show their love to Gaga, BTW I'm not saying that isn't ok to see more lgbtqa+ people as little monsters, I would be awesome, but can you evend imagine how many people we can be if society stop with that sh*t of defining people sexual orientation based on their likes, but well, sorry for this LOL, and interesting question too (atleast before born this way), BTW I can't wait more for Chromatica ;-;, I know it's just 1 month but IDK, I'm so excited, well, atleast we finally have Stupid love WOOOOO. Strike a pose ❤🧡💛💚💙💜🤎🖤🤍💖

SHALLOW 16,184
I honestly never really cared about what she did for gay people back when i started stanning her. I didn’t even know i was gay. ItWasntLaauv 6,392
She’s from New York, she’s a blonde pop star, she had eccentric fashion, and she always mentioned her gay fans in particular were always an inspiration to her in interviews and award acceptance speeches which this attracted more LGBTQ+ people since they saw a safe space in the fan base. Then Born This Way came out and it was OVER, she became THE LGBTQ+ icon of this generation.
xoxo Craig 55,649
I was stanning Gaga well before I knew anything about sexualities, what it meant, or what I thought about myself. I was singing and dancing to Born This Way in my room when I was 13, not fully understanding what it meant to sing those lyrics. By 2015, thats when it all clicked. I really got into Gaga and her message and what it meant. I was still discovering myself, and it took me until 2018 to fully accept it. But sexuality or acceptance of all people wasn't what attracted me to her in the first place. It was the music. Its a scientific fact that music tastes develop in the womb when you are born... and I know that before I was born, my mum/dad were exposed to lots of 90s house/dance/techno music. And dance, electro pop, techno, EDM is exactly the music I like. One thing about the 90s is that dance music generally had a vocalists who had elements of soul in there. Good electropop/dance pop and EDM music with a great vocalist? Thats Lady Gaga. Gaga is a very loving person and she spreads kindness, and to me its important that I stan someone with good morals and has a good message, AS WELL AS a great discography. Gaga's music did help me understand who I am and her constant message of acceptance really helped me be okay with myself and start to explore that part of me. But me being a bisexual man doesn't have a lot to do with Lady Gaga, and that self discovery came a lot later. Its just kind of a coincidence that I stan Lady Gaga and I am bisexual End Racism Now
Daylight Jokers 14,958
I think her involvement with the campaign against the Don't Ask Don't Tell policy also helped her gain the gheys' hearts.
brucee 1,690
i've always seen homophobia as an extension on mysogyny, so I think what drives gay men to identify to strong, powerful females who are not afraid to express their sexuality, is that. They are strong and powerful and also because the Queer/Club community is the core of underground art scenes. hello hello baby.
Guest Adarsh
For me, it’s because she’s not afraid of anyone. And she’s both masculine and dominating and soft and feminine at the same time.
