The applause video might be partly in black and white but it has personality/substance which in turn give the song so much life/colour. It's one of my favourite videos by Gaga. 

Basic doesn't mean bad tho. They are good but their catalogue is not colorful or ''Chromatica'' in any way. Their photos are pretty much - plain background with someone wearing jeans in front of it - and sorry but that is basic IMO.

We still are yet to know the full aesthetic/intent of Chromatica so I'm not making any assumptions as of yet. 

All we know is the colour "Pink" is a reoccurring theme so far and it has somewhat of a futuristic space vibe.

Also I&V can work in colour, it's just no their preferential style but that's what collaboration is about. If they are shooting for Gaga's album then I'm sure they'll be following her vision.
