Stop. :fail:

She just puts out music that is really relatable and catchy. Related and catchy music turns into radio support, which turns into youtube views, online streaming, and overall single success.

I'm so over people trying to put reason into everything successful that is not GaGa related, i.e. payola, paid youtube views / facebook likes, labels buying their own artist singles, etc.

I don't have anything against Rihanna, but Def Jam Records belongs to Universal Music, which was recently reported by YouTube for buying video views to an external company, among with Sony and RCA. I'm not saying that Rihanna bought views or whatever, but it's plausible that her label did.

That's no reason to under credit her as a single seller though. She knows how to stay in the public eye without the GP being tired of her.

Rihanna is more "popular" than Gaga. Fans will eventually accept that and stop unfairly bashing her.

She's not even a singles artist either. LOUD almost outsold BTW worldwide and she's about to have her first 100M grossing tour.

You are right she is more popular than Gaga right now but she is much less acclaimed musician than Gaga and that's a fact! :nails:

which is also the home to a certain label which is the home to a certain artist... :creepflop:

let's not be naive. I don't think any kind of tampering with audience impressions is fair but that's what the big labels do.

I would go as far as saying that RiRi is not even a musician but that has nothing to do with charts or sales. eugh. stans...

That's true. We have to see which artist has been affected since then.

They will bash her as long as they feel threatened.

And really there is no reason to be jealous of her broad but weak sort of popularity that doesn't translate into album and tour sales equal to Gaga's. Loud was 2 eras ago.

I'm not even bothered by those saying that Gaga is fading. Her tour sales, album sales, perfume sales and cultural relevancy are much higher than those of most pop stars, and her single sales are mostly decent. And she's not even in her peak.

Phillip Phillips’ “Home†is #14 (3,289,000). It’s already the fourth best-selling song by an American Idol alum, following Kelly Clarkson’s “Stronger (What Doesn’t Kill You)†(4,010,000), Carrie Underwood’s “Before He Cheats†(3,662,000) and “No Air†by Jordin Sparks & Chris Brown (3,503,000). This makes it the top-seller by a male Idol alum. The old record was held by a different song, also titled “Home,†by Chris Daughtry’s band Daughtry, which has sold 2,328,000 copies. (The old record by a male Idol alum who remained a solo artist was held by David Archuleta’s “Crush,†which is up to 2,090,000.)

I don't like Rihanna. I don't support any of her music. But people cannot deny the fact that she is among the elite in the pop scene.

Her presence is growing in album / tour sales. In the realm of singles, she has way more top tens than GaGa. Yes, that comes with way more flops, but the general public don't acknowledge flops ... so who cares?

Rihanna, at one point, was less popular than GaGa, but ever since Gagz released Born This Way, Rihanna has passed GaGa in the United States for the time being. I firmly believe it was because of the preachy / pro-gay / anti-bullying approach she took. It made her "uncool" to the GP. This resulted in GaGa achieving lower single sales in the U.S. opposed to her pervious eras.

With that said, RiRi does not have the cultural relevancy that GaGa has. Hopefully RiRi's cultural irrelevancy will continue with GaGa's next album era. GaGa's next album era is DETRIMENTAL to her longevity in U.S. pop culture.

Her peak was 2009.

Her peak was 2009.

:tea:

Agreed. At this point it was ...

That necessarily does not mean she can't come back with a bang. She still has plenty of opportunity.

I don't want to discredit the BTW era, though (it did REALLY well for many reasons), but it was not as much of a BANG compared to TFM era. It's hard to peak again when you aren't the new "it" girl ...

Her peak was 2009.

Maybe in US single sales. Album sales were higher in 2010 which also housed the bulk of the highest grossing debut arena tour of all time. I think 2010 was easily her cultural and popularity peak. BTW's debut sales speak for that.

she should be after collaborating with giant artists like Jay-z, Em, and Coldplay. Rih is already exposed to other stanbases.

will.i.am & Britney Spears "Scream & Shout" 285,000 (919,000) +99%

PLATINUM next week!

i'm still scratching my head on why S&S did not debut on #1. she has enough exposure on x-factor. she released the video 8 days after the song was released. the vid was even premiered on x-facor and let's consider the fact that she's britney (the pop princess) who has a big fanbase.
