Klou 2,414
I have to admit December is just an awful time for new music to be released (digital or radio), but C'mon looks like it would be a flop either way. I mean even Primadonna and Girl Gone Wild had twice the sales with half the airplay C'mon has.
Mariano 958
I don't think C'mon will flop It isn't even released to radio... Where was Marry the night before get released on radio on top 1000 ? And Marry The night was 5th single while C'mon is second. I even think that it can top the hot 100 with the right video and promotion because as we can see radio stands a lot for it :)

It was actually one of the fastest initial gainers on the radio in 2011. But after poor sales, it ran out of steam.

Aiplay equates to radio driven sales and for the amount of airplay it has right now it should be at least in the top 200 on itunes. Right now it's at #479. If I can recall correctly, Marry The Night was higher than that with the same amount of Airplay.

I'm sure that it help boosted it. So even though they are very similar chart runs so far, the songs do have their differences. I think too long video killed it... I wouldn't say it killed it. But it needed a very mainstream video to boost it, but that boost never came. It may not have worked anyways. Gaga was the star of New Years Eve, and even that couldn't boost the song by much. Jake 0
Radio did hurt Marry the Night. Initially it was really well received, but, as someone mentioned earlier, it stopped gaining after the video aired and it rose on iTunes. The Christmas freeze killed it. That video certainly didn't help though. Far to artsy and long to promote an already struggling single. Whatever the case, the song that should have been a sure hit did poorly. Hopefully lessons will be learned and ARTPOP won't make the same mistakes.

Hopefully lessons will be learned and ARTPOP won't make the same mistakes. The surge was strictly from the milions of views the video got after its release. After the hype died down the song dropped back down to its radio driven sales. The video was the only thing that had much of an impact at all on the song... None of her performances did much of anything for its sales and not even the NYE special that had close to 1 billion people worldwide watching. I think it rose maybe 2 spots after the performance? People just didnt like the song. The song itself is great, but I've noticed that Pop songs that are "dark" normally do not do well. Bad Romance could be called dark, but it's quirky and fun at the same time.

Americano 31,061
MTN's issue was the song itself.. With how much it were promoted, if it were meant to be a hit, it wouldve been a hit.

I was getting too detailed, but it was basically promoted and given enough chance to be a hit, but couldn't be.

I get that thought process, but I wouldn't consider any of its performances good promo other than New Years Eve. By then the song was already dying. I know that it's not scientific at all, but EVERYONE in my school loved Marry The Night. And they were coming off completely hating her for releasing Born This Way and Judas. I think it was a likable song, just that it had a lot of things working against it. That's just my opinion though. Doesn't change that it flopped hard :laughga:
