Gaga and performances?

Inspired by the SL promotion thread, why does Gaga always seem to purposely avoid big award shows where she could perform her new (pop) music?

Of course I’m happy the LG6 era has arrived and this isn’t a negativity thread but I’m genuinely curious as to why she avoids big promo gigs. She could have easily planned in the 3.5 years for SL to come out a week before the Grammys where she could have performed it, but chose not to. The same thing even happened with Joanne when she skipped out on the vmas when the lead was released. It seems she’s now only comfortable performing for tv if it’s on a piano which isn’t a bad thing but it just seems like such wasted potential.

Does anyone else think we’ll ever get a dance song performance on tv again?

I'm sure it's more complicated than any of us can imagine, given that none of us are A-List artists... If it was the right time and fit with her plans she surely would have.

And PI is the only lead which didn't get a big award show performance iirc?

I think so but it looks like SL is about to join that list

She did a good thing avoiding Grammy this year, since there was that huge scandal.

I'm pretty sure she cancelled VMA after the 2013 mess, where they boycotted the performance she had in mind, so I don’t think she’ll perform there anymore. Awards shows in general aren't a big deal anymore tho, they attract few spectators... EMA and AMA aren't very relevant, if I'm not wrong.
