Not the only place where this has been an issue..

No more video directors, firing creative directors, etc.

Yeah, and she's been better off with LAG and has done fine without directors (and it should be noted that she didn't give up professional collaborators altogether--she still had Ponte, Khondji, etc.) And what happens when she brings a director (Klein) on board? Everybody STILL b---hes about the outcome.

She's fine, and it's ultimately her name that gets attached to everything, so she absolutely should only approve and make public the things she wants to.

So basically she could have expanded her sound and been apart of an unexpected feature on a good rap album but instead she chose to let her ego get in the way and refused to compromise. Doesn't sound like much of a collaboration to me.

If anything I respect Gaga MORE for doing this... because it shows she's not willing to compromise her creative vision for ANYONE...

If Gaga didn't like the end product she has EVERY right to back out... Although I don't disagree about Gaga having a big ego... her ambition has/is going to work against her in many ways... :noparty:

I think... she'll use Partynocious for ARTPOP... cut and edit the song... get Kendrik to feature on it, but make it Gaga's song... not Kendrik's...

Exactly. It's one thing to have artistic integrity and stand by your beliefs, but she seemingly has an inability to compromise and let go of the reigns when necessary. Marry the Night's music video is a consequence of this.

Marry the Night's video is technically not just proficient, but quite excellent. And, as I just said in my above post--it's not like she didn't compromise and hand over the reigns--she had a friggin' production designer and DP. Likely an editor, too, as I doubt Gaga sat in front of FinalCut or Avid and did it all herself.

She probably wanted it to sound too much like a Gaga track even though its on Kendrick's album! She should have compromised! That's apart of collaborating! Her ego is just...

Gaga acts like shes so willing to take risks and in certain ways she does, but in a lot of ways she doesn't. This instance of not being able to compromise is a testament to her inability to take risks with her sound.

LAG was great as a choreographer, Matthew was a great artistic director, and the TEOG director had great credentials.

Too bad all of that disappeared from petty spats, I doubt it's all because of them.

I wouldn't doubt if she sat there with him temporarily and advised him as to how she'd like the video edited. I honestly think she tried hard with Marry the Night and failed. Creating her worst music video thus far, in my opinion.

Also I don't think shes better off without LAG. LAG + Gaga was pretty amazing most of the time. Her choreography and creative vision as of late has been a bit of a mess.

LAG had 10x the ego Gaga has. She got Gaga into trouble almost every time she opened her mouth. A typical, delusional wannabe diva if you ask me. (I'll admit though - her choreo was perfect.)

There's plenty of other people at Gaga's front door begging to work with her in regards to creating/choreographing. I'd rather her work with people that respect her to be honest. So far, I like Richy's choreo (he did brilliantly with MTN). The tour is a little bipolar in terms of choreo but I have faith he'll push Gaga during ARTPOP. He's adventurous. I want to see what he can do!

I doubt it is, too. But I don't care. If you can't stand the heat, get of the kitchen. She got them out of the kitchen. Good for her.

And I don't disagree. LAG is a great choreographer. In fact, that's probably the one thing Gaga has sorta lacked--her last singles' choreography wasn't quite as instantly memorable as most of LAG's stuff. But it's still been consistent and *good*, so it's a minor complaint.

But it's abundantly obvious with how consistent Gaga's overall creative vision has been from Paparazzi on that LAG was largely superfluous as a creative director. And her collaborations with Minaj seem to confirm that. Gaga's always had the reins. The evidence is glaring and apparent in her entire body of work. The Haus--including her "creative director"--are collaborators, but Gaga's always been the "auteur." It's funny people complain about her videos needing directors, without most even understanding what a director necessarily does. I mean, Gaga's "directed" her entire career, constantly having the ideas of the Haus funneled and filtered through her, with her deciding when and how to deploy them. That's actually just about the greatest training for a film director I can think of.

And if you want to consider the director of Torque somebody with great credentials, that's fine. I'd much rather her work with Oscar-nominated industry legends like Khondji, though.

I'm not saying she should get back with LAG im just saying shes not necessarily better off without her. I think if she hired another creative director she'd do great! She needs one and she needs better choreography than she has now.

there is nothing wrong with that video.

There is EVERYTHING wrong that video.
