Well, no system can be free. Doctors and nurses come at a cost, medical equipment does as well. They don't work for free (and they shouldn't). So the question is not "is it free?", but "who pays?". In many Arabic countries (not only them of course) the source is primarily companies, in those case for oil. Oil companies in Oman can have a tax rate of 55%. And that's a LOT of money. Obviously if individuals have no tax we can say most of the people can use healthcare without paying, but it's not "free". Of course I'm not saying that one country's system is bad or good (also because it's never 100% wrong or right), but someone has to pay! Sorry if I sound bad! I've heard this "healthcare care is free" so many times while traveling that I was worried to hear it again I met people in Italy who think that healthcare is free and they have taxes for individuals I'm glad you can use such a great healthcare (Americans can't relate), even though is based on oil companies...
