The people hoping for a brokered convention for party elites to override the will of the people and all the primary elections are the same ones who cried about the popular vote in 2016 So interesting how they flip flop and change their position once it suits them I guess the popular vote and real democracy don't actually matter to these people afterall. How shocking You people really like to ignore the facts. My first comment on this topic was "warren and amy should drop out". Warren dropping out should be in the advantage of Bernie. So there wasnt a bad intention. However, a Bernie supporter said " only warren should drop out. Amy should stay so she can take the votes from Pete". This comment opened the conversation about the broken convention. You know that the rules are for the candidate to get an x number of delegates. Those are the rules. No candidate will get that number, if people dont start to drop out, which is something that I suggested it in that first comment. You guys should talk to that Bernie supporter and read the rules again.

Neither will be dropping out. The concern here for them is diminishing returns. People aren’t going to keep supporting a candidate that isn’t winning. The challenge for Sanders is winning by big enough margins to keep it to 1 or 2 candidates getting delegates like Nevada in order to him to win. As it is, the groundwork for Super Tuesday is what it is and any further movement isn’t going to be sweeping. So the actual question left is whether or not Bernie can win big in SC to push Super Tuesday further into his favor by pushing as many people below 15% in those races. Harris Walz 2024 1,451
Still looks like a brokered convention if these candidates stay in on Super Tuesday. It can be avoided if Biden, Buttigieg, Warren etc release delegates to Bernie. That's probably the smart thing to do but I don't see it.

We'll see about SC and beyond. No tangible evidence that Bloomberg will have an impact although he's running lots of ads in NM and they look pretty good. His message is great, the messenger is terrible.

HorusRa2 5,005
As a Bernie supporter, I really think it’s not okay to suggest anybody drop out. The campaign should run until the candidate decides to suspend the campaign and the choice still remains with the voters. Additionally, these people are also politicians and the longer they stay in and embarrass themselves the worse they look in future endeavors. I will say people like Pete and Amy are more likely to drop out than Biden or Warren, who are much older and don’t have a long career to be ambitious with. Amy isn’t going to keep getting 9% after losing more and more contests. Same with Pete albeit he’s in the low teens right now. The people generally want to pick a winner and if Bernie keeps winning he’ll siphon votes from those candidates as well. If more “winning diversity” occurs or if more than Bernie start winning contests, the ones who do win will siphon support from candidates that don’t. Simple as that. You guys should talk to that Bernie supporter and read the rules again. I was specifically speaking about those here and elsewhere who have shown or stated they are comfortable with the party overruling the will of the people and selecting a different candidate at the convention, effectively stealing it away from Bernie (assuming he gets a plurality but not a majority and no candidate gives their pledged delegates to him). Those types indeed are the same ones who love to cry "but the popular vote!!" everytime they're reminded that Trump won. Apparently they don't mean that though, and it's only for sake of convenience when it works out for them. I think it's still up in the air in if some candidates should drop out. Right now, it seems to be benefiting Bernie as it is splitting the vote in those who are looking for an alternative to Bernie. That being said, many voters who have selected a centrist as their first choice actually have Bernie as their second, so it is not entirely clear that if one of them drops out that support would go to another centrist. This just demonstrates there are no "moderate" and "progressive" ideological lanes that most voters vote based on. Acknowledging that, Warren dropping out doesn't mean all that support would go to Bernie. Likely, it would go to multiple candidates, and this is how it would play out if any of the candidates dropped out.

Not necessarily. Just wait till SC and you'll see how Bernie has a HUGE margin on delegates then. According to 538, it's still most likely for Bernie to get a majority (not a plurality).
