This is good advice for anxiety, as in having anxious feelings.

NOT for ANXIETY DISORDER.

But many people don’t know the difference.

Amm to people saying “did he lie?” Yes he did lie because I have anxiety and there is no help. You can’t make yourself happy and you can’t make yourself immune to it. I tried it and it is not that easy. I tried talking ti friends, I tried taking meds, I tried talking with professional but I still have it and it will be there. I’m dealing with it and i try to hide it but it’s there and his tweet is just ridiculous.

A therapist will literally tell you the same thing. Stop the fake outrage.

Looks like you went to the wrong one

TSUNAMI

My boyfriend has HUGE issues with anxiety and this is really making things awful.

He doesn´t even go to the grocery store because of it and that´s a daily thing everyone does.

Me on the other hand dont have any issues with anxiety. I can feel a panic attack in  some situations but I dont let it overcome me. I just drop it.

That doesnt help with my bf. Medications dont help either.

It's not exactly a lie. Is it how it is for everyone? No. But many of us create our anxiety and construct it. It's not saying mental illness isn't real but that our minds are powerful things that can construct things.

Is this cancel culture trying to strike again over comments that they endlessly try to blown out of proportion?

I'm so over it, imagine how tired we are.

I agree. This is so blown out of proportion. He's not being dismissive of anxiety and telling people to just "walk it off". He's literally just saying to go for a walk and socialise with friends as coping mechanisms, which is the exact same thing my therapist said to do.

I can't believe I'm defending Jake Paul here, but this is a perfect example of cancel culture trying to twist the words of someone with good intent. He's not speaking for everybody with anxiety, he's just speaking about practices that have worked for him.

So glad I've come off Twitter. It really is the toilet of the Internet.

people deal with anxiety in different ways and there are different "levels" to it also. some people get anxious talking to authority figures or ordering pizza but others have an anxiety disorder (can't leave the house, OCD tendencies, etc).

telling people to just "walk it off" doesn't consider the varying degrees of anxiety.

i understand that the things that he suggested work for some people but i have struggled with an anxiety disorder for years and if i could just "walk it off" i would. i've been to psychiatrists and am now on meds, it was much more complex than "iT's aLL in yOUr heAd bRO, LikE, jUST sTOP BeINg anXIOuS!".

imagine not knowing whats going on in your head and being told to just "walk it off".

But the thing is, just because you and others can’t take this advice doesn’t mean others can’t. It’s not fair to say he should delete it just because it doesn’t apply to your specific need. Not you but you know, in general. He definitely didn’t mean it’s in your head like it doesn’t exist. He’s saying it’s all a mind issue aka “mental illness” and the more you practice ways to control it, the better you start to feel. And yes I am clinically diagnosed with Severe depression and anxiety. Probably something else but I didn’t keep going to the session lmao

May I Read You? 😎

It was just a nice tweet in general. Dont be so sensitive when you can’t relate to it.

First of all chill. Second, no one who actually has anxiety problems can relate to his tweet. Third, you don’t get to tell me that I’m being sensitive when I’m talking about real mental issues that are actually relevant to me and my existence. Take sever seats Jasper!

He's so ignorant about anxiety. If you know nothing about anxiety SHUT UP. We didn't need to you to spread more false views about anxiety which already is TABOO and has a reputation for being "fake".

i did say "i understand that the things that he suggested work for some people".

him making a type of blanket statement on treatment for anxiety (go for a walk, chill out) is just not cool.

there's such a stigma against mental illness (and accompanying professional treatment, meds, therapy, etc) that suggesting a refreshing walk as an end-all cure is unhelpful and unsafe.

Thank you!

Sadly only people who have been through the most extreme cases of anxiety due to mental illness know that this isn't true at all. I have pure o OCD and had panic attacks while doing things Mr Know It All Paul suggested, I took a walk every morning, I baked to relax and had a panic attack out of nowhere which brought me to the hospital because I blindly thought I had a heart attack. I did meditation, I did yoga everyday, I started painting classes, and I still had suicidal thoughts bcs of my illness (OCD) that took all my time, that stole all my joy, that gave me chest pains bcs of how much anxiety I had, and turned my brain into a cycle of same thoughts like a broken record. And after going to a therapist, I still had my first suicide attempt.

So if you know nothing about what severe anxiety and mental illness is, for the love of God, SHUT UP! Stop spreading false ideas about it because it hurts US NOT YOU! Assholes.

I'd love to see any of you beat severe OCD or panic attack disorder for even a DAY! And then come back and say the same ****
