tbh i understand your confusion, those are numbers we can't realise how big they are and don't use often.

In addition, i don't know how it works in Greek but in French we have :

million = million (1.000.000)

billion = milliard (1.000.000.000)

trillion = billion (1.000.000.000.000)

So a "French" billion is actually what you mistaken for an "English" billion (if that's make any sense to you :sweat:)

Maybe that's why you did that mistake :)

Finally some charity from this man :rip:

Probably tired that his other richest man rival (Bill Gates) is always donating and involved in good causes while Jeff gets criticized for doing nothing :deadbanana:

I'm not one to hate on wealthy ppl (more on the system that allows such disparity not the individuals themselves)... But do something dam it if your that rich :neyde:

Seattle has been trying to get money out of those two for ages.  Kind of surprised Jeff would even do this. He’s been know as a stingy money hoarder for a long time here. :laughga:

He shouldn't give anyone money until he makes sure they have an actual plan and will use the money properly

Well it's his foundation right? So I guess he'd have a say in how to spend it

If I was super rich I'd wanna make some sizable charitable donations but I'd also wanna know how it was spent. I wouldn't wanna give away just for the sake of giving away

And no I wouldn't give away everything I owned if I was a billionaire like some demand that's why I don't criticize too much cuz I think when it came down to it, most ppl who became wealthy wouldn't actually giveaway most of their wealth.

It's easy to say that when your poor but when your economic situation improves the general tendency is that ppl don't become as generous as they claim they would be if they were better off. I don't think that really changes for extreme wealth tbh

But at the same time I also look down at extreme stinginess when your literally swimming in money and never wanna contribute as has been Jeff Bezos case

Some Billionaires are at least a little involved in charitable work, Jeff literally has been super stingy up till now. So I wonder if he genuinely wants to help or if he's just finally giving in to criticism :laughga:

When you own $130 Billion in net worth, and your main assets are in shares of a Corporation you started that has been paying like no taxes... It only makes it more shameful to not be willing to give something back :sis:

The fact that he could literally give every American a million dollars and it wouldn't even be half of one those billion :bradley:

Anyway, I guess this is something. Hopefully that money ends up going to actually meaningful and practical things that will actually help, and this isn't just a PR stunt to make it look like he's doing good.

Assuming he does give the money, good for him. He has a history of donating such a small amount of money that donating 7.7% of his net worth is actually a step up for him. Hopefully, he’s telling the truth and continues to use his money like this.

With the amount he’s donated you could theoretically buy the Amazon rainforest and still have almost 2 billion left.

Not the bore worms!
