Yes, she wanted to mix sounds of old Ke$ha and her new self but imo it didn't work out as most of it belongs to mid-2010s at most. Warrior did modest numbers despite Die Young being a hit, Rainbow’s sales were correct thanks to Praying and attention from media. She’s never been a streaming artist, and failed to appeal to the masses with the sound/aesthetic she went for. Doesnt mean High Road is bad. I think people blaming the quality itself are pretty naive. Good music doesn't translate into succes most of the time and the reverse, bad music doesn't always do bad, in fact a lot of bad music is played on the radio and tops the charts. While I wish it did for her to gain enough money not to be bothered with the money she has to pay Dr Puke, as @FfFfFfFFjust states, quality doesn't always mean success. This is simply my favorite Kesha album, and I'll keep streaming 'till I can't stand it now I'm waiting for that vinyl release!
