People are allowed and should be allowed to express their opinion on any artists. There are extreme cases like insults and hate but you are not talking about it. To justify any negative opinion by saying it's because we feel threatened is an assumption and  annoying one at that because it disqualifies anything non-positive.

There was literally a thread here post-Grammy titled "Billie's rise is dangerous to Gaga", but go on being a constructive non-fan.

But there is a thing that doesn't let you let other people have non-positive opinions on her, what's that? Can we pinpoint it? :oprah:

LMAOOOO hunny I literally criticize her all the time, I said this was the one time I agree with her!

Can you stop making assumptions about somebody else's life based on ONE post in an internet forum?

It must be so stressful living with so many preconceived ideas and stereotypes damn

That thread was made by a known Gaga hater on her and was aimed to elevate Billie over Gaga so not sure how it proves your point.

So you don't think there's an anti-Billie wave going on here? Have I dreamed it?

Sure, I believe you are 100% neutral on her yet are out there liking every Billie comment that gets in your way.

You are not a fan yet there is a thing inside that makes it irk when you see a post you don't like, if not being a fan what it is? :oprah:

Can you stop making assumptions about somebody else's life based on ONE post in an internet forum?  I'm sorry but you must be completely naive and innocent if you think though your online present you let others see more than what you actually write. It must suck living in a close-minded world where nothing has any implication or cause, but each on their own.

Like any artist, there are people who hate on her, love on her, people that criticize and people that police different opinions. There are many people against her now (as a consequence of her behaviour and quoted like these coming from a newcomer, perhaps) and many that won't shut up about Billie hate and this site turning into Madonnanation, throwing the usual jealousy thing and so on.

The conclusion is that the few Billie fans we have here should suck it up and accept non-positive opinions, if the posts crosses the line (and IS an actual insult) to report it and move on, this way the forum will be at its most healthiest.

“There’s a difference between lying in a song and writing a story. There are tons of songs where people are just lying. There’s a lot of that in rap right now, from people that I know who rap. It’s like, ‘I got my AK-47, and I’m ****in’,’ and I’m like, what? You don’t have a gun. ‘And all my bitches…’ I’m like, which bitches? That’s posturing, and that’s not what I’m doing.”

Her point on posturing is very true, and is just one of the reasons I find a lot of hiphop music distasteful.

I also like her distinction between lying and telling a story in music. Lying is 'showing off', and telling a story is about creating an intended emotion through creativity. Recognising that difference is pretty cool, especially at her age I think.

Honestly, Billie really cares about music. I think she's pretty cool tbh.

Thank you for posting the full quote and providing context.

I see similarities in Billie and Gaga in their viewpoints on storytelling and creating a world for the music, whether it's through fashion, or staging or sound. Each projects tells a story and stretches the truth a bit to suspend reality.

I will say, the comment on rap is outdated, as there's tons of rap music now that isn't about ****ing bitches and getting money. It's borderline discriminatory actually, and perpetuates a false stereotype, but I get what she's saying.

What you should suck up is her smashing, so enjoy and keep turning every mild thing she says into a non-controversy :laughga:

Again with this jealousy assumptions (which I thought you actually didn't like, btw). Can you come up with something else? Aren't any actual arguments working and we have to resort to projection?

I think it depends on how it’s done and the context. There are so many songs (not just hip hop) that say things like this. But in some songs, they are meant to be a parody or a metaphor or it it can actually be real. It can show a feeling or type of mood or thought. I also think it’s over-exaggerated to make a point and for some shock value and to evoke a certain reaction or image. I rarely think it’s meant to be taken seriously.

I don't think people need to project to clearly see what's going on.

From this idea stems the need from projection in itself. You try to rationalize things that don't sit well with you as a certain artist's fan and start seeing all sorts of reasons why people post non-positive opinions.
