2020 Iowa Democratic Caucus

Caucuses are where Bernie shined last time. Why are his supporters so against them and saying they are undemocratic this time?

I think they are garbage too, but I've been saying that since 2016.

This.

The optics are TERRIBLE. We actually do need Unity, I just get upset when its used as a cudgel against Progressives for existing or calling out corruption/wrong doing and is hypocritical, but this hurts that cause.

There's no way the DNC gets out of this unscathed even if it wasn't rigged with how the whole thing was handled with their track record against him... I don't expect Bernie himself to ever say "it was rigged" (unless we find out it was) but... there's no way this will stop now. The optics are just too messy - Bernie predicted to win massively, ends up in second place, on the eve of him being predicted to be the new frontrunner for the Democratic party with numerous think pieces and journalistic articles coming out about DNC officials scrambling to try to stop him... Plus the potential conflict of interest with Pete... it could very well be all coincidental, and the DNC got a saving grace in an honest victory... but it doesn't matter anymore

Everyone ****ing loses :rip: I guess Joe might have gotten a saving grace if he doesnt get obliterated in the media, but it seems all data was accurate in that Joe got 4th place and he might be able to spin this as "look the results were inconclusive" (even if they were conclusive) now with the media circus...but his campaign IMO should be in the tanks after this, its an embarassment, and certainly part of why Obama has been so hopeful of someone overtaking him... I dislike Obama for many things, but he is an astute politician minus his Bernie blindside.

Michael Bloomberg however, with the reports of him doubling his ad spending - if Biden cant come out of this unscathed, Bloomberg is about to SNATCH his moderate weave. Also, $500 million on ads potentially... Y'all super tuesday kids better install a bloomberg filter on your adblocker :ladyhaha:

:oprah:so to summarize this.

You admit Bernie is gonna divide the party & it would’ve been better if progressives ran someone younger/fresh

I got drunk

The Democratic Party is trash. This is just proof of that. The Republican Party is no better.

Take both of them down!

They were questioning it in 2016 as well, same issues with the many coin tosses, and the over all process.  However its just more amplified this time around due to the failure of providing us the results of the caucus, and how they tried to focus on "transparency" this time around, which completely back fired.

I think this is an overall loss for all candidates, some more than others. One of the MAIN gains from the Iowa is the press coverage, and boost they get moving forward, all of that was diminished, plus just bad optics for the democratic party. At least Pete was able to give a somewhat victory speech before the result which was smart on his part honestly.

LOL

no.

The DNC is dividing the party by actively working to unseat their likely frontrunner and insulting an entire base of people in the process :rip: You don't think its divisive to see your candidate be winning but see think piece after think piece comparing him to Trump, calling you a Bernie Bro (even though you're a woman of color likely) and have literal evidence of them rigging things in the past to go off as a basis?

Moderates are so scared of a Bernie or Bust that they are... working overdrive to make sure it happens :saladga:

"Younger/Fresh" means absolutely nothing, its about integrity. People saw through fake representation this primary season, and its the reason Pete has very little youth support, and Kamala and Cory were mostly liked by middle age to elderly affluent white people :saladga:

Amy probably wasn’t viable so she switched to Pete.

Well, Bernie's team was absolutely right, it seems they managed to energize the Latino vote and minorities as well from underrepresented communities in Iowa :golfclap:  THAT is how you win a general election tbh, reaching out to people who are left out of the process often.

Whether they win or not, they should continue this strategy going forward.

Pete Buttigieg is going no where. He's a typical, slimy politician and is going no where

Just because he can talk like Obama doesn't mean we're in 2008.

We're a different country now and we're in a different place. We don't just take empty words and platitudes from people who pretend like they're saying something.
