2020 Iowa Democratic Caucus

The good news about the results coming out is that you know when CNN has their townhall there will be some questions about electability tomorrow and thursday to the candidates that did not come out of Iowa looking good. It also means that the debate on Friday will bring forth a lot of attacks--people are voting and you can bet the ones that are desperate will be out for blood. 

What I'm interested in knowing is how rural iowa performed. Bernie lost to Clinton in 2016 because of his performance there but Emerson polling shows that the districts Bernie didn't do well in last time that he and Biden were the only ones viable. Given the results we know about, that could mean that Bernie either sweeped or the results we have was not representative of the parts of Iowa where Biden did well.

ME! I love the primary. I love digging into the numbers and seeing how the different communities vote and what that tells us about the party. I just wish there was more faith in the process. The next democratic president and congress needs to address election integrity less we continue to descend down a dark path going forward.

Looks like the Biden campaign is going to try and contest the Iowa results. It's the last card they have when it looks like he's placing in 4th or 5th place. This is a campaign of desperation--they know if he really did that bad, it's going to be a death kneel to his campaign that I don't know he can bring back to life.

I can imagine that Buttigieg is going to be in the hot seat at the next debate. Biden and a very sharp tongued Amy want to appeal to his voters, so I’ll be excited to see what they have to say.

I can't believe they would release less than 100% of the results. That will fuel a media narrative that could declare X person the winner even if they didnt win the entire thing - whether its bernie or pete or Joe or Warren, it could be anyone And with the SOTU  happening, Trump will say hes been acquitted the whole thing was a sham but the economy is doing amazing and increase his chances of re-election... This story could be swept under the rug

The Bernie Campaign released new details on their internals from last night. Now 60% of precincts. May be accurate, may not be. But I think seeing how the actual results align with theirs will be interesting.

Buttigieg's results being consistent with the numbers of Bernie's is a good sign, but I still think the "50%+" release they do could throw a wrench into everything, and we may never know 100% how things squared out.

You can't take 17 seconds of a caucus out of context - who knows if they redid the coin toss, or really what was going on there with his hands. I'm appalled at the ridiculous nature of these coin tosses & the overall illegitimate process that is a caucus, but I don't think there's any tilting to any one side. It's just a shitty process for everybody. 

These conspiracy theories about the app are moot because they are going back to the paper and counting everything outside of the app anyway. And it's the IDP, not the DNC doing this. The fact is that this was a stupid process that delayed results. It wasn't a planned conspiracy to rig the results or even to delay the results on purpose to help anybody. Do not spread that propaganda. 

Anyway I look forward to the results & am thrilled Bernie did so well & Biden so bad.

My critique was more about the fact coin tosses are used as a method of deciding in general. I think that's a fair critique considering what evidence we have.

Nothing I said was propaganda, and the link I posted was to a slightly related story by an investigative journalist and reporter  if you want to read it and call it bs, that is your prerogative, but I am not the kind of person to share something some randos on the internet post, Max Blumenthal is very accredited and reputable.

If they release only some of the report, it will affect the media narrative that is all I am saying. They should wait to release it all, because 50% could show a winner at the time who is not the final winner, and there is no point to that other than to appease people who don't want to wait.
