Thanks for answering. I really love your answers about politics, and really would like to know from you, what would you think about Tulsi Gabbard as V.P.? I know, she is controversial, but it could happen?

And what do you think about Sen. Tammy Baldwin or Senator Debbie Stabenow (if you know them.. I don't, but I read that they have some progressive support)

I have no idea in terms of any kind of data or polling or studies done about how much the VP pick is either a positive or negative influence on someone's viability in the general election. They surely exist, I just dont know them off the top of my head. That being said, I personally don't think Tulsi would be a good VP pick because, partly thanks to Clinton, and some of her own doing, she's pretty toxic to the mainstream liberal democrat (who are overrepresented in the primary, but underrepresented in the general. This is like 20-25% of the population). I think, she is perceived as some kind of fake democrat secret right winger - which isn't really fair to her, but she is more right wing on some specific issues than many democrats, and otherwise I would say she's in the center, but she joins Bernie in being one of the few Democrats with a progressive stance on foreign policy (even if her reasoning is rooted in American exceptionalism in reverse :deadbanana: )

So, might some people not vote for Sanders if shes the VP? I think so, but idk enough to make a guess how much that could be at all, and if it would legitimize his support even further beyond independents into taking small bits of Republican/Trump territory, and if that would be a worthy trade off. I think she might lend credence to this idea that MSM keeps trying to float about Bernie just being Trump 2.0, and now they might call him a Republican (because Tulsi is perceived as one now - her favorabilities in the Dem field rn are literally negative, so :rip: ) I don't want him to pick her because this Bernie is Trump/Bernie is a Republican/Bernie is a Russian communist asset picked by Putin (who... elected Trump? lol liberalism is a disease) that trying to take over America narrative might pick up serious steam.

A year ago, I would've said that Bernie Sanders and a somewhat progressive but flexible Women of Color Military Vet with crossover appeal and down to earth charm (and amazing hair omg) would be an obvious winning ticket, even though I don't personally agree with many of Tulsi's policies or reasonings for holding them, but now I think her reputation is tarnished enough that its a bad idea. If you'll recall, Tulsi was seen as a rising star of the DNC and Democratic party in the early 2010s and was clearly aiming high, but when she broke rank and endorsed Bernie in 2016 they basically put a hit out on her and its been downhill from there for her :rip: That didn't bother me, but she started parroting some right wing talking points against other dems, and thats a red flag for me. Like, go on Tucker Carlson all you want, but don't say that Dems are calling for Open Borders when they arent :saladga: That just reduces her positions to tokenism ("even dems admit it! My black friend said!" etc)

Beyond that, I only know a bit about Tammy. She has some progressive views, but I havent really vetted her or anything in depth. I know that people are looking for whoever the democratic nominee is to pick a woman, or a woman of color for a few mixed reasons (some good reasons, some meh reasons), so I guess she's an option, but Idk.

I think if Sanders were to win the nomination, he would be expected to go with the tradition of picking someone more moderate than yourself in order to appeal to a certain demographic you were weak on in the primary or to secure blue leaning or swing states (someone from a specific state basically being the biggest +++ on that), but I think he would buck this tradition by picking someone who is malleable, but is a progressive or is very open to progressive ideas. He won't pick someone super moderate or a center-right democrat that would vote against Medicare For All for example, he'd need someone to be lock step and also responsible.

You're talking about lobby but not mentioning how Omar has relations with CAIR?

I must be missing something here... Are you saying she's anti-semitic? and what does @Gov Hooka being Muslim inherently have to do with them liking Ilhan's charisma :rip:

I am absolutely saying that Ilham Omar is anti-semitic. We're about 10 months too late for that debate, but it's pretty well-documented.

I apologize if I misidentified anybody, but Gov Hooka has been one of Admin's most vocal critics regarding what he said about Muslims five years ago and I jumped to a conclusion based on posts of his that I've read. It won't happen again.

To be clear, it is not anti-semitic to criticize Israel or Netanyahu (a man I wish would disappear yesterday).

But it is deeply anti-semitic to accuse Jewish Members of Congress of having dual loyalties to the US and Israel.

It is deeply anti-semitic to peddle in the trope of Jews making decisions "for the Benjamins, baby"

It is deeply anti-semitic to advocate for a national boycott of all Israeli products.

Congresswoman Omar recognized that these statements were problematic and apologized for them publicly. I'm sure you won't defend the indefensible.

Nah sis. It’s going to be Ilhan Omar I hope. But definitely not :/

The VP must be a natural-born US citizen.
