It’s not like we were talking about it all the time. We knew we had different opinions about it, but we had so many other things in common. Being gay is apart of who I am. I wouldn’t want to surround myself with people who are homophobic cause I wouldn’t be able to be 100% myself with them. If that’s cool for you, then cool? I was 100% myself around her. Being homophobic doesn’t mean constantly bashing gay people. There’s literally billion of other topic to talk about. My point was, if you automatically spew hate at someone for having different opinion than you, you’re no different than them. I really don't think he's correlating his opinion with truly hateful, homophobic, sexist, racist types and condoning their beliefs. He's merely talking about the general overblown offence that's going on lately, cancel culture, being angry with people over simply disagreeing with you. And hating them so much that you want to see everyone else hate them too, not be able to get along with them in any way, viewing them as an enemy. Us vs. them mentalities are highly popular and extremely toxic right now. We need to actually listen to what people are saying and not ascribing our agenda onto their words to warp them into meaning what we want them to mean. We are THAT sensitive that we can’t even let other opinions exist. You know, instead of using that as an opportunity to explain your side and possibly change peoples minds. Whenever I write a long spiel, people accuse me of writing an unnecessary "essay" and "no one's going to read that." And sometimes, I just can put down my thoughts in a very concise way, as I just did. It seems I'm damned if I do, damned if I don't. I've never even spoken to you before today and you seem new. What do you know about me to put me into such a cookie cutter mould? I'm a lot more complex than you give me credit for and you'd be wise not to make such assumptions about people with that stuck-up attitude if you want to be liked around here.
