Now the last several years we keep getting way more precipitation than evaporation and the water just keeps rising and rising and rising

 

One big factor is that we crossed a threshold where precipitation now has been rising faster than evaporation. Not in the summers which have gotten drier but in the other 3 seasons which for the year as a whole also more than compensate for drier summers

 

Another thing is that warmer winters at first increased winter evaporation because less of the lake surface would freeze (which stops malt evaporation during winter)...

 

But now they have warmed up enough that we have more humid days (when it gets very cold the air gets super dry)... The increased damp days from less bitter cold ends up reducing evaporation despite less ice coverage

 

So while lakes were drying up, we crossed a threshold now where it seems like the exact opposite is happening now.... Now it's too much water

I blame it on the Earth surviving mechanism. 

 

I see our planet as an organism that has it's mechanisms. Same as we get the fever when we get infected with a virus that's how the Earth is treating pollution and gas poisoning. 

Also, I believe that the ice is in the function of air conditioning.

I think by the time earth warmed up enough to make Canada exotic the climate change would have to be so severe the world of of had an total ecological collapse loooooooong before that

 

November to April is just too far off off exotic for it to ever happen. The most pessimistic scenarios for global warming that predict the highest increases call for 5C or 6C warming. In the winter here that would still be cold 

 

But here in the Toronto area we've had more days with rain than snow this winter if that's any indication... The last big storm that passed by (the same one from this thread) was just rain here

 

But anyway earth can survive way hotter temperatures. It's done it before... We're not even close to the biggest its been

 

I think the big issue is humans are making it happen faster than changes should happen leaving wildlife with less time to adapt and the climatic changes cause more extinctions as a result than it normally would

 

But I do think predictions of a massive ecological collapse that will cause us to go extinct is being a bit dramatic...

 

Things will be bad in the sense of worse storms, harsher disasters, less predictability with farming (some farming now is done indoors in part to avoid unpredictable weather) making food more expensive etc

 

Things will get bad and affect our Standard of living and cause a lot of extinctions... I don't think it will be severe enough to cause human extinction tho

 

And of course as usual, places that alre already poor and under developed are getting hit harder with the changes cuz they tend to have less fresh water and more prone to droughts and also they lack sturdy infrastructure to deal with stronger storms
