Did you get that pic I sent you @Lois Griffin?  I figured you would be the only one who would understand it.  For the others here, it's Alex Borstein, the voice of Lois Griffin.

No, that was me, but not on purpose.  I gave 13 songs a 10, but Jolene a 9.   I don't know what I was thinking.

An 8.25 is about as friendly as I could be to that song. I like it, but I don’t love it.
I know this is an unpopular opinion....

We should encourage our friends to participate in the next Dolly rate.  It's not possible to go through one and not gain a great appreciation for Dolly.

I regret not rating Coat of Many Colours a little bit higher because @Davian was right, it is a masterpiece. :diane:

Right?:diane: The lyrics really got me. I imagined Dolly as a little girl at school. She’s so proud of the coat her mother made for her, yet those kids don’t understand it and make fun of it. Instead of letting their opinions impact her, she stays proud of her mother and coat of many colors! It’s so touching. Years later it’s still a topic that’s just as relevant:heart:

What you want Lady Gaga🥂 What you want with Christina🥂

Just found this!

I don't know why I didn't see it when you first posted it. I must've been searching for a GIF.

I humbly accept this present from you, Ronk. :flutter: She looks really good here!

If I could do it again I would've given Two Doors Down or Light of A Clear Blue Morning my 11,  I would've rated Think About Love, But You Know I Love You, The Bargain Store, and Why'd You Come in Here Looking Like That higher & I would've rated Starting Over Again, You're The Only One, Touch Your Woman, and It's All Wrong lower.

I know what you mean.  I guess it's a good idea to listen the the albums more than once before rating.   I'm guilty of often not doing that.

I agree! It's good to listen to the songs a few times.

I didn't give many low scores. I'd say I gave mostly 10s. While I think most of the songs were deserving of a 10, I don't think this strategy lends itself to a megarate where people are going to rank songs all over the place. I mostly want to change my scores just so I could bog down other songs so they have a place in the ranking that I feel is more appropriate. :messga:

I know exactly what you mean.  I am working on my rates for the Lady Gaga Ballads megarate.  I'm having a hard time finding songs that don't deserve a 10.  And @rumours often rates albums that have no fillers, such as Joni Mitchell's album Blue, an album rated by many music critics as one of the greatest albums of all time.  So what can you do then?  In such cases I give a couple 8s or 9s just to spread it out a bit.  On this Dolly rate I gave 13 10s and nothing lower than a 7.  To me, going as low as 7 is "ranking songs all over the place" in such albums. It's an interesting dilemma.

I need to listen to that Joni Mitchell album. :tony:

I totally agree with you. I think it comes down to that any given number means something different to different people. But I guess that's what a megarate is about.

The album is from 1971, so I wonder if the younger generation will relate to it.  Then again, the songs are so good they should stand the test of time.  Some things are forever.  Let me know what you think.
