Sex Dreams is the demo we heard live at the iTunes Festival.

Sexxx Dreams is what we got on the album.

In the same year d1ck bicycle was played on the radio?

This line still makes me cackle to this day. Ariana literally ran with it and performed the song on ****ing cycling machines live through her entire tour.

Sex dreams isn't even that explicit considering the content of rap songs that play on the radio. "sex dreams" and "touch myself" don't seem that bad imo.

Funk downtown is fine imo :selena:

You realize that the Black Eyed Peas censored "Don't Phunk with My Heart" to "Don't Mess With my Heart," right? Granted, a decade had passed between the two, but I imagine 'phunk' is too semantically similar to 'f*ck' for it to ever be cleared for Top 40 radio.

In isolation, "Dancin' in Circles" is a pretty dull track in Lady Gaga's discography, IMO. I read a post here recently where someone mentioned that they originally were drawn to it because it was one of the few songs on Joanne that had a familiar Gaga-esque vibe and sound to it, but that once that wore off, they've lost their affection for it. I definitely agree and feel that's why it has such a large fanbase.

She promo'd the heck out of Joanne's lead single and it peaked at #15; Superbowl aside, she couldn't even find a serviceable second single. 'Million Reasons' would be much less a part of her best hits setlist had it not been for that night and for the fact that she literally had no other song to sing yet was still being booked for big gigs during the 2016-2018 timeframe.

Similarly to the Joanne era post-MR, I agree that after the DWUW debacle, no single from ARTPOP stood a chance other than Gypsy -- which, to me, was the only legitimate way to end the era on a high note and will never understand why it wasn't at least attempted. But, if the era kept the level of hype it had even a few weeks into DWUW's initial release - but before the video drama - than I think Sexxx Dreams, MANiCURE, and Gypsy all could have done pretty well.

Was the concept of a dual-release of Sexxx Dreams + MANiCURE ever confirmed or explained? I don't know how that would be done, but if there was a realistic strategy behind such a move, it could've been smart since MANiCURE is obviously the more GP-friendly song yet Sexxx Dreams was more... sophisticated in terms of its sound and lyrics.
