Officer in my city had multiple DUIs, killed someone drunk on their motorcyle & when the other police officers arrived at the scene they told him to go home. Surprise, surprise, they closed ranks. They tried tampering with evidence. He got less than a year in COUNTY jail. Our police force is militarized and the violence, abuse and bigotry is neverending. That's what happens when you put that much power in the hands of a group of people who very easily forget they're supposed to protect and aid their population instead of killing innocent people and perpetuating fear and oppression. I live in a mostly black, brown, & latino community and my Brazilians friends tell me that the numbers and the brutaility in Brazil is SO MUCH worse.
