This is probably a spoiler thread, just fyi if you plan on seeing it. But lemme tell you, I think it’s the best film in the new trilogy, it’s incredible, the last 20-30 minutes of the movie is nonstop jaw drops, I swear I got a lil emotional and was yelling in the theater like it was a midnight showing and I’m not the biggest stan of the franchise, but this movie, next level. I love it!! :firega:

REALITY

I agree!

This movie, in my opinion, is getting a lot of unnecessary hate and criticism. To me, this is the best out of the new trilogy (maybe tied with TFA). Are there problems that present itself throughout? Certainly. This is not a perfect movie. However, I think the positives grossly outweigh the negatives.

There are even instances where I fundamentally disagree with a lot of the critiques. For example, while a lot of people disliked the amount of fan service in this movie, quite frankly, I loved it. Does Emperor Palpatine coming back after there was almost zero hint to him reprising his role a shock that (story-telling wise) made no sense whatsoever? Yeah. But do I really care? No, because I love the character of Palpatine so much, and I think his inclusion in this movie only made the movie better.

J.J. had the impossible task of wrapping up the original trilogy's characters, wrapping up the new trilogy's characters, and trying to do any sort of damage control from TLJ, all doing that in under 2 and a half hours. With all that in mind, I thought that this was a great film.

Yeah I really enjoyed it

'nonstop jawdrop' becomes completely ineffective though due to it being 'nonstop' they overdid it a bit there but it was miles better than the last jedi

Married the Night

Yep. Agreed.

*spoiler alert*

So when I was a kid Chewie was my fave and it hurt my feelings he didn’t get a medal.  So when leia died and he finally got his medal at the end I freaking LOST it. So good.

I can see where you would feel that, personally, for me it was still effective because I feel like each new jaw drop moment or revelation that presented itself felt bigger than the one before. I was screaming HAHAHA. Glad you liked it better than the last though. :enigma:

I swear, when it comes to J.J. he really came through with this last movie, ESPECIALLY with everything that he was given before. This and The Force Awakens are great and I think J.J. definitely fits in well into this franchise.

Exactly, it was pretty much impossible to do a perfect job on this movie since J.J. didn't direct TLJ and they tried to pleased 3 different generations of spectators.

it's literally all fanservice and completely invalidates episodes 1-8 not to mention the retcon of the last jedi. if you're not a star wars fan you will probably like it.

I mean, it looked good but I have so many problems with this movie/trilogy. I hope Kathleen Kennedy gets let go and JJ never works on anything Star Wars related ever again.

This tea. I'm not mad at fanservice, especially since this is supposed to cap off the entire saga. But JJ didn't do it right. As much as I dislike The Last Jedi, I can't believe JJ was so petty to spend time retconning elements of it. I am glad he showed

Spoiler

Leia in Jedi training. I may not like TLJ, but I'm so happy it showed her using the force. The thing I absolutely just can't handle is that the message that Palpatine broadcast wasn't even in the film. It played in a f***ing Fortnite event. That is so stupid oh my god. JJ couldn't even introduce the conflict of the film in the film.

But seriously, his obnoxious mystery box loving ass screwed the trilogy.

Can I ask how it invalidated all the other movies and how it was all fan service. I’m not asking this sarcastically or to drag anyone, but I seriously don’t understand how someone could see that spectacle of a movie and not enjoy it. Even though I’m not the biggest stan, I like to feel like I know the lore well enough so if something was off, I would notice something. I just really don’t get the hate and I feel like some are just hating just to hate.
