Chickens in Malibu 7,873
I agree with her. No need to comment on her weight at all. It's a personal matter. Why do people not understand? It doesn't need to be celebrated nor criticized.

LadyxGaGa 1,687
I mean if she’s happy then shouldn’t we be happy for her? I don’t think celebrating her weight loss means you are being dismissive to your fat friends, that seems like a blanket assumption
Guest
Im Obese, I lost 150 lbs and still losing weight. There is nothing wrong with celebrating weight loss and acknowledging the fact that obesity is unhealthy. But that does not mean we should shame people who are obese. Celebrating someone does not mean we are bringing others down. When I reach my goal, I want people to celebrate my achievement. Yes it is a possibility Adele lost the weight because of depression, but we can withdrawal our reaction because its a possibility. So should we stop celebrating people who become Doctors because maybe their parents pressured them into being one?

giskardsb 12,565
I mean, I'm overweight, and am working on losing weight, and I'd want people to tell me good job also. It's true that nobody should be fat shamed. It's also true that obesity is a huge health problem and is not a healthy condition. If it was up to some of these people they wouldn't even allow doctors to tell their patients that they need to lose weight for their own health. and that article above saying as many as 3/4 of obese people are "metabolically healthy" is probably misleading.. maybe right now they are... but give them another 10 years in the same condition and metabolic syndrome is almost inevitable. Also, lets talk about the toll on their bones, spine, and general well being.

Economy 49,092
Wow. So now Adele is obligated to stay overweight because some ppl might take her weighloss as her trying to be more appealing to people and sending the message that being bigger is not ok? Please As a personal training student and healthy living advocate I can't stand comments like this or modern society constantly encouraging overweight people to be very satisfied with themselves encouraging them to stay that way Yes no one should be body shamed or bullied or be made to feel like crap about themselves... But I find nowadays there's an unbalanced unhealthy extreme here where some people could be made comfortable to not make changes that would benefit their health Adele said it herself she did it for health reasons and that should be celebrated! And if she also did it partially to look and feel better even tho she won't say it that's fine too!
