Because it’s not really the 2010s without Lady Gaga. Period. On the surface, Gaga was the first human to ever snap up an Oscar, Grammy, Golden Globe and BAFTA in one year (all for her incredible work on the movie A Star Is Born, and its accompanying album). On the deeper side of things, her second album Born This Way (2011) was more than just packed with a couple of “pop bangers”. It was an artistic approach in expressing a number of themes which covered politics, sexuality and religion—carving out a new path for mega-celebrities to connect with social injustice and level with the concept of freedom as it stood in the 2010s. 

Gaga joins Kendrick Lamar, Billie Eilish, Frank Ocean and Beyoncé on the list.

When I think of 2019 I don’t think of Billie Eilish so much as I think of “Bad Guy”, in the same way as i think of “Old Town Road” instead of Lil Nas X. 

Lana or Lorde should’ve taken Billie’s spot.

Billie defined 2019, not 2010s. She wasn't really talked about between 2010 and 2018, which is like 9 whole years.

Also how is Shawn Mendes more infleuntial than Justin Bieber? JB was huge from Baby to Purpose, and continued to produce hits even after Purpose, garnering Grammy nominations and maintained consistent popularity.

This list is so heavily influenced by recent popularity of artists rather than genuinely considering the artists' work in the whole decade.

I agree.  If you count the entire decade evenly and not weighted by the last few years, Katy and Justin should be on the list.

I've seen Katy missing in a lot of "Artists of the decade" lists and I think this is the reason why ... she was KILLING during the first half of the decade and they seem to forget it!
