The only time I would’ve wanted her to pick a single was for Venus (which would’ve flopped but the video would’ve been amazing). Gypsy was easily a top 10 single. seashellplay 512
An ideal single schedule (imo) would follow (Though in reality this would only function if her hip was diagnosed earlier, and Interscope was more lenient and wasn't so strict in terms of money): Applause: May 2013, Friday release to potentially reach #1 Venus & Sexxx Dreams (Promotional Singles): June 2013, With beautiful lyric videos by 'Mr. Gabriel Marquez' (Brilliant artist who has worked with Marina before) DWUW (Lacking R.Kelly): August 2013, Likely to reach approximately #7-8 (With a music video, of course.) Gypsy: October 2013, Friday release, #7 (Generic music-video with her travelling across the globe or something, general public cry a river over these sorts of things) G.U.Y.: February 2014, Friday Valentines release, reaching ~#50-60, I understand why Gaga wanted this as a single, plus the ARTPOP Film: G.U.Y. was probably one of the only triumphs during this era (Other than Applause) Aura: June 2014, Release during Gemini season, this song would likely do horrible on the charts, with it being such a strange EDM track, but this is an 'ideal' single cycle, and Gaga evidently wanted some form of separate release for Aura with an accompanying visual - Though the era would conclude in controversy with the 'Burqa' references. not a french fry 1,565
I love this song, it sucks that Gypsy is a slur though, she should re release it and call it “wandering man” or something social experiment gone wrong

She thought it meant "nomad". Let's leave it at that and honestly that's what many people today think it means. Luckily it didn't become a huge controversy then so let's not make it one now. I don't claim to speak for anyone else but I'm basically the ethnic sibling of the Romani against whom it was used as a slur and I don't think it's really that big of an issue (I'm Indian - the gypsies were people who left India to travel from place to place and eventually settled mostly in Romania. Many moved again). Check out iTunes data & graphs at CHARTPOP.live
