Tbf Gaga's music isn't "American" (other than parts of Joanne) whereas both MJ and Taylor made American music.

I know that's the name and they obviously award for pop music but I feel like their focus is on American music (aka country, blues, soul, jazz, hip-hop - basically country and then all black music  etc.). Correct me if I'm wrong.

No matter what I feel about the girl there’s no denying she’s THE artist of the 2010’s. Her success has been insane and she’s already had a long career, especially considering her age. 

If she didn’t come across so mean-girl fame-hungry social-climber I’d definitely be more supportive.

This, its like when people used to say that KP's Teenage Dream was as good as MJ's Thriller because it got the same amount of #1s.

Why do people act like once an artist's legacy is cemented, no one can surpass it? Yes, MJ is iconic but so is Taylor. Stop discrediting her just because she’s young and makes pop music.
