Mr S 8,672
They're right to be honest. It was not a hit, not even a single, and the soundtrack was rewarded and people sort of moved on. It doesn't take away from it's moment. Having said that, other artists receive this type of treatment all the time. Adele WON pop solo with a live version the year after 21 swept. Beyonce got nominated for Halo Live. There are so many examples where those 2 and others got this type of undeserved recognition. So it's only fair that Gaga benefits from that sometimes too. But then again, a lot of people were haters in 2011. It's what lead to her downfall in the first place. Most of those people have changed their minds about Gaga since then which I think is fine. She did praise Shallow in the same write up.

And y'all complaining that 3 nominations is too few lmao I feel the same tbh. I feel like a lot of people moved on from that 2018 movie... James Gibson 3,489
People complain all the time Grammys just award the #1 hits instead of better songs. Still they get mad when a non-hit is nominated. Also, the name of the top categories "X of the Year" makes people think its about the biggest or more famous of the year (instead of the usual "Best something"). When in fact is just a fancier way of saying "best". ARUTW has great songwriting as the category asks and couldn't be nominated last year. She won't win. The comitte that decides top categories probably included Gaga for SOTY just so she wouldn't be snubbed from the General Field. But they couldn't have her in AOTY cause she would be a threat to win since ASIB was one of the biggest and best of the year and the top soundtrack in eons. KingRedd 3,139
Here’s my thing.... why do songs need to be “popular” for them to be recognized? Are we really going to say that Lover and ARUTW aren’t on the same level? Two slower songs about love. It’s like the new songs have to be the ones to win. The popular songs on the radio have to be the ones that win. Popularity does not equal Grammy worthy. This is why the Grammys will lose its substance because people now feel as though their faves new album or song must be nominated, ignoring the fact that the song might just be a decent song at best. It’s all subjective and I like Taylor more than I used to but it’s ridiculous seeing people all over the place saying she needs to sweep or she deserves album of the year nomination just because it’s selling well. Tay most likely doesn’t even give a damn ha May I Read You? 😎

Didymus 34,379
I agree that ARUTW doesn't meet the qualifications for the SOTY category but I definitely don't agree with the idea that it's not that good It's actually just as good (if not better than) as Shallow imo. "A Star Is Born" had its moment. And, put simply, none of the other songs on its soundtrack deserve to drag it back into the spotlight. There's a reason why we've all collectively moved on and forgotten about "Always Remember Us This Way." Maybe it's just not great or maybe it's because "Shallow" was too good and overshadowed it, but either way, it's hardly worthy of a nod for song of the year." Feels like people are tired of seeing ASIB picking up awards... And y'all complaining that 3 nominations is too few lmao "Always Remember Us This Way" is probably the best written song on the album. It wasn't even a single and the amount of streams it has accumulated is astounding for a non-single. She ****ing deserves to be nominated, some of the songs in that SOTY category PALE in comparison, and it's definitely the best written song in the category this year. Unfortunately, it won't win. It'll probably go to Someone You Loved since it's huge right now in the US, and they award Gaga with Visual Media and hopefully soundtrack. Either or.
