The real scandal isnt the stock photo, its a lot more insidious and damaging that the Buttigieg campaign was feigning support from black people and black leaders, some of which came out explicitly and said they did not endorse him or the Douglas plan.

It's very Trumpian tbh. "African Americans love me" is what Trump says all the time when it's NOT true.

Pete's campaign addresses the use of a Kenyan stock photo on their site promoting the campaign’s Douglass Plan for Black America:

The photo was removed from the page on our website promoting the Douglass Plan months ago as part of a regular update. However, we want to give everyone an explanation for how it was used to begin with. 1/3

Using stock photos is standard practice across many campaigns. The stock photo in question is widely utilized across the internet & it was selected while a contractor was running our site. *The website the photo was from did not indicate it was taken in Kenya in any way.*

As our campaign has grown, we have brought all of our web development in-house to help guard against mistakes like this. We apologize for its use and for the confusion it created.

We can all come together once one of the candidates wins the primary. Until then, it’s a battle of ideas and policies.

We thought people would come together in 2016. Just dont get your hopes up. :(

It's just stock photos, I use that regularly in my work and I don't look at the original context because it doesn't matter

Between this and the lying about the African Americans endorsing his plan, it should put the final nail in the coffin of his presidential bid. Key word being should though as it obviously won't.

Back at it again I see defending the establishment candidates paid off by big money donors when they get caught for their fakery. :enigma:

Luckily most of us can see through all the smoke and mirrors and know about his history and continued problems.

Sooner or later he's gonna get caught!

Now that he's #1 in Iowa I wonder if the MSM will actually start investigating and criticizing him (as they should be) like they have some of the other frontrunners or if they'll give him a free pass like Biden.

I don’t think providing an update on the situation is defending him lol it’s good to know the full situation! :)

Not y'all attacking me for suggesting that we work together instead of focusing on petty sh*t

Just let the hennies have their tiff. Whoever wins the dem. primary pretty much has everyone's vote here. No need to worry about unity just yet.

Although I would agree, anytime an establishment candidate is criticized or in the midst of a controversy, that user is always there defending them all that they can, meanwhile consistently shading and going after progressives.

So there's that. And I'm just pointing it out.

It's a stock photo, people need to get a grip. You're not going to cancel him or Bernie.

I don’t think people are upset that it’s a stock photo, I think they’re upset that they tried passing it as an African American supporter of his, and that Pete’s team is trying to portray that they’re supporting black folks and that black folks support him/his policies (which is a lie), while using said stock photo. It’s not cancel worthy obviously because it’s not that important, but the fact that they’re lying about having black voter support is problematic. This was just the icing on the cake.

Who are “the progressives”? List them.
