Before the WH Obama was a far left leaning candidate for his time, remember Hillary was still there and he crushed her in the debates to win the presidency.

Americans love leftist policies, they just don’t know they are leftist. 

Things like Medicare, Social Security, etc. are fundamentally social welfare programs that would be expanded and supported by any progressive or leftist. 

Meanwhile far right Republicans are actively working to erode social welfare programs to keep their wealthy donors happy. 

This country is a scam in every sense of the word. Wake up. You are being scammed every single day. You deserve better.

People here have been quite specific about why they don't like him though. Why don't you address those concerns instead of making these vague "social media bashing" remarks? None of us are being vague and we're very capable of responding to questions about our disliking of Obama's presidency

It's wrong for Canadians to come into threads like this and dismiss criticisms that Americans have for their own former presidents, particularly when those criticisms pertain to said president locking up children in cages on the border and bombing innocent people in the Middle East.

We're in the middle of a political primary, which hasn't been even a fraction as nasty as the primary between Obama and Clinton back in 07 and 08, where Clinton's campaign literally spread a photo of Obama in "Muslim" garb to paint him as an untrustworthy foreigner. Trump was elected in 2016 because we ran an unpopular, establishment candidate with a terrible record and no vision for the future, not because the left dared to challenge the status quo.

"So now we're attacking Obama?  Good luck in 2020" was the original quote. I don't think Obama is perfect, he's far from it. But why should we talk about his actions now? He did terrible things, but he's no longer a candidate or a president, so his points about "going too far left" are moot. Shouldn't we at least focus our energies on actual candidates, their plans/pasts, and what's the current government is doing?

...Because he's currently attacking the left in America? I focus plenty of my attention on current candidates for president, but he chose to insert himself into this mess and lecture the left. We can have more than one conversation at a time.

See my response to this point earlier in the thread. You don't get to tell Americans that it's unreasonable to criticize our former president for doing atrocious things while he was in power.

And again, pointing out that Obama's definition of "progressive" (that allowed for war crimes, torture, and caged children) is a thing of the past after he lectures us about embracing the extremely popular reform advocated for by more progressive candidates is entirely reasonable.
