My Dracovish keeps saving me in unexpected moments. This thing is a monster.

I really do not like the new games. Something about the two seems unpolished/incomplete and they wanted to pursue a particular direction but they changed up plans. Even Kalos (arguably the worst in the franchise) feels somewhat more refined

Okay after my first day of competing, here's my thoughts/ observations: 

-I am having a HARD time against Gyrados. This is usually the Dynamax Pokemon that most trainers use. They use Max Airstream for Speed Boost, Max Quake for Defense Boost, and usually have the Moxie ability to get +1 on Attack after KO'ing an opponent. I made the mistake of not using any Electric Pokemon in my team and it's starting to show. 

-I've faced some Grimnsnarl that use these sets: Reflect, T-Wave/ Scary Face. I guess you could Taunt them, but with Prankster they usually go first and set up. Grimnsnarl is giving me a headache by severely crippling my ability to sweep. 

-Malamar: I was shocked by how much I struggled against this Pokemon. Not having any Bug types or moves meant that his guy just waltzes in (usually after Reflect boost) and sweep with Superpower. I hated the fact that I didn't use a Ghost type against him to stop the Superpower abuse, but even then I'm not sure what else I could do.

-Hydreigon: !! I forgot how powerful this Pokemon was. They are fast and hit hard. If you have a Fairy Pokemon, use it!. I wasted too much time trying to build a team around Coalossal that I neglected to include any Fairy Pokemon on my team. Worst of all, I haven't even used Coalossal.  

-Dragapult: EVERY other team has one of these. I have been able to knock out some of these using my specially bred Cinderace. A lot of trainers underestimate this Pokemon and waste a turn either setting up, or going for D-Tarts. One Pyro Ball + Sucker Punch usually works, but this relies on luck. Dragapult is the perfect counter to Dracovish. They are faster and are able to use D-Tarts to knock it out. Wish I had a Haban Berry or something. 

So those are my first impressions. I really wish I had a Fairy Pokemon to use. I also saw tons of Mimikyu and Corviknight, but I don't think I faced any of the latter. My official record was 7 wins and 7 victories- it would have been 8-7 but a little bitch quit on me.  Keep in mind I'm also using what was supposed to be my "B team." I'm just really hating myself for not having a Fairy Pokemon or anticipating the rise of Gyrados and Hydreigon.

It's a semi competitive team: I bred most of the Pokemon to get the right nature and decent IVs, but my biggest mistake was building a team around Coalossal since I have nothing to respond against Gyrados, Grimnsnarl, and a resurgent Hydreigon. 

Don't be afraid to try, but you should at least practice on the Battle Tower to see your strengths and weaknesses. I ended up using my "B Team" since my main team collapsed.
