I was saying relative to other Nations were better off... 2.5 Million is nothing compared to NYC, LA or other big Coastal areas in the world

Anyway its still bad of course...

But keep in mind too that “at one time” is not a likely scenario... sea levels rise gradually...

Its not like 1 year everyone is fine in Vancouver, the next year the entire city is underwater and all 2.5M have to be relocated at once...

And like i said, its not the entire Vancouver metro thats right by sea level...

The city made zoning changes colouring in red areas that would be submerged assuming a 3 metre sea level rise... the majority of the city under that scenario would still remain above water

The only thing that would cause a sudden need to move 2.5M ppl from Vancouver would be a tsunami say that huge earthquake they are expecting caused one...

but that disaster would happen regardless of sea levels rising or not

Agree on all that. But what I had in mind was way more than 3m... :laughga:

Also made a small edit about the US on my previous post

Why do people want us to live forever :awkney: It’s not good for anybody. Lifespan needs to be lowered a little bit 😅

Yeah... when it comes to submersion i honestly think our biggest threat is a tsunami on West Coast... Thats IF it happens...

Even when the day the big overdue quake in San Andreas faultline finally happens... it may or may not cause a tsunami. Some quakes cause them and some don’t depending whether or not sea floor gets raised and by how much

In terms of sea rise due to global warming... Canada does have a pretty small percentage of population living in areas that are very close to submersion anytime soon

The biggest economic damage we might face for now in the foreseeable future is that more unpredictable precipitation levels have made agriculture more challenging especially in the praries where summer droughts are more common now

But its hard to predict future changes fully accurately. I wonder what the climate will be in 50 years :madge:

Ageing demographics are even more influenced by birth rates than life expectancy

true if we live longer theres gonna be more old people

But the number of seniors is going up quickly despite only marginal increases in life expectancy each year (like a month a year)

Has more to do that more babies used to be born than now... older ppl were a bigger group and now they are getting old
