My (kinda sad) Enigma experience

I already wrote back on one of the earlier pages that I empathize with both the OP and with LG, and that it's an unfortunate situation and that I'm sorry for his disappointment.

Based on some of the other responses, it sounds like she might've been pretty intoxicated by that point, so I don't think it's fair to call her rude, fake, or hypocritical. She might've been so out of it that the OP's words didn't even register with her.

To be clear, even if she was stone-cold sober, it was her night off and she was under no obligation to acknowledge fans. I've read posts before where some people had the good fortune of running into her at Brian Newman's show where she was super friendly and buying rounds of drinks for everyone and posing for photos, and then other people were there on a night where she refused to talk to any fans or pose for any pictures. It's kind of like how sometimes she stops in her car to greet fans, and sometimes she doesn't. Unfortunately for the OP, he encountered her during a time when she wasn't in a mood or state to converse with fans.

Considering she was wearing a necklace with her name on it and even made some joke about that on her IG story, it's not like she was trying to go out incognito. She of course has the right to go out in full "Lady Gaga" glory and be unbothered, but if she truly was trying to escape detection, there were ways she could've better accomplished that goal than wearing a necklace with her stage name written on it, and she could've stuck to one of the private VIP rooms. Perhaps she was more social at the beginning of the night but then that changed (whether because of the alcohol or exhaustion or her mood), and the OP had bad timing. Or maybe from the very beginning, she wanted to go out proudly as Lady Gaga without having to hide herself but still didn't feel like having to be "on" for her fans. All of that is her right. No matter what, she doesn't owe anyone anything, and she deserves to go out and have fun without having to talk to strangers. Making small talk can be very draining.

But as far as I can tell, the OP never blamed her for anything – he's just expressing his disappointment. His feelings are valid. It's possible to both acknowledge that celebrities don't owe fans anything during their time "off" and also to validate the feelings of hurt fans. OP, I hope you have a chance to meet her under more fortunate circumstances in the future.

I feel for the OP because something similar had happened to me and another 5 fans years ago. We were waiting for out taxi after her concert in Nottingham when this guy who happened to be her driver approached us saying he was Lady Gaga's drive and the coach we were standing next to was hers! He phoned her security guard and they told us to wait as she would love to meet us. After an hour of wait her security came out and told us to wait a bit more and so did some of her dancers. She came out after 2 hours of us waiting, totally wasted and just went straight up into the coach without even waving. So yes I feel you. I know that she is human but its also her career. She is the most well know star in the world, it natural for her to get all this attention. We are not talking about a full on conversation, a wave wouldn't have hurt and would have made everyone happy.

It's weird, because Gaga always preach "I love people, I'd love to have a conversation with a stranger" ON STAGE and then she doesn't want to talk to anybody in real life? Excuse me, I love her so much, but she's kinda fake in that way. And the fact her ex said "be kind...er" after leaving Las Vegas... like, we don't who she really is. And no, the 5f2 documentary was obviously staged

I still lover her with all my heart but I empathize with you. We are all like that at times, right? and not for  being a star she has no right to act like that. But if it were my case I would be heartbroken like for life... even when it was neither the place nor the moment. Not everyone has the same luck

I've never read so much bullshit in one post, wow.

But you have to realize that having a conversation with a fan is not having a "normal conversation" 99% of the time. Most fans, even if they are calm, are saying stuff like "I love you Gaga, you saved my life, thank you for everything" etc etc. Some people are crying and shaking. Most will want a photo. Even if they're totally cool and chill, she knows that they're still like "holy ****, LADY GAGA!!" somewhere in the back of their mind.

And that might be really meaningful to Gaga in it's own way, but it's not what she misses. She wants to bump into someone she doesn't know, who doesn't know her or expect anything from her, and have a chat. Like when you see someone in the checkout line at the store buying your favourite brand of cookies and say "omg aren't those so good" and you share a smile. Or someone compliments your shoes and you get into a convo about the best shops in town. That kind of thing. She basically can never have that. She's not fake for saying she misses it.

This.

It seems like those normal conversations are few and far between, though they do happen from time to time, as mentioned in this story from last November, written about when LG and her family visited Grandma Veronica in West Virginia:

https://weelunk.com/holy-crepes-lady-gaga-in-the-house/

“I had a gal out in the courtyard tidying up, all the leaves, cutting back the liriope … And, who comes out to smoke? The girl who’s tidying up the courtyard is smoking, and they’re talking about hair and hair coloring and whatever. Gaga is helping her move tables around the courtyard while they’re there smoking. She had no idea! Finally, Stefani said, ‘Hi, I’m Stefani,’ and the other girl said, ‘Hi, I’m Erin.’”

Susan heard later, from one of Lady Gaga’s cousins, that “Gaga loved that particular moment. … When she went home in the car, she told the family about her encounter with the gal in the courtyard who didn’t know who she was, and she loved that part.”

I get where both parties are coming from but to me OP is justified in feeling dissapointed. Regardless of what level of fame she is at, she could have at least had the courtesy to acknowledge their existence. I dont get why we as a society can chastise this behavior against influencers and youtubers but cant apply the same standards to celebrities that are seen at a higher echelon.

Never meet someone you like, you realise they are just humans.

it’s a difficult balance I guess for anyone famous as you don’t always want to be ON but at the same time you owe a lot to your fans, it must be strange.

weirdly I walked into Alaska & Sharon a few days ago where I live in the U.K. and it was kinda awkward, Sharon was very friendly but it was clear Alaska wasn’t feeling it, but she was polite.

Tbh.. I think if I was you I would be furious. Waiting all those years and takin that long a trip to have her stood in front of you and to literally turn her back must have been infuriating. She has a right to a private life of course so I get her perspective, but the reality is she could have handled it better.

from what I have seen of her while in Vegas and Joanne back stage business, she ain’t the same girl we stanned 11 years ago.

————-

EDIT: Actually, I’m 2012 I saw the BTWB in London and we got there at 6am and waited in line to get in the Pitt. Got in, incredible show.

after the show around 10:30 a few of us waited at the back of the stadium for her to leave. Around 2am there where about 10 of us and security came out and waited with us, Sarah came out and said hi and then security said Gaga is happy to meet us but we have to be dead quiet. So they put barriers up for us to stand behind and we waited. Around 2:30am (I think). The cars came SPEEDING out the stadium and over 25/30 miles an hour and it was clear she had no interest in meeting us. They speed off so fast and all 10 of us had been dead silent to make sure we could meet her.

I defended her to peoples and said she just be tried like us and it’s already so late, the next morning we woke up to photos over her out in London That same night looking banging, she wasn’t tired, she just didn’t wanna meet us. (Which is fine)

Just remembered that, haven’t thought about in ages so thought I would share that with you.

Sorry you feel sad. You are entitled to your feelings.

However, there are a couple things about this story that I think need to be pointed out.

1. If you are seated at a gaming table, it is NOT OK to even take your phone out and look at it. Taking an actual photo while seated at a table, regardless of the subject, is a violation of Vegas casino rules.  You are lucky that the dealer/pit boss didn't kick you out. If you need to use a cell phone, you must stand up and take a step away from the table. If it was Gaga's security that told you to stop taking photos, it is possible they were giving you a heads up that what you were doing wasn't allowed, period.

2. From the photo you posted and the description that Gaga suddenly got up and walked away from the table, it is VERY likely that she was headed to a restroom. The presence of a female tailing behind her and Peter backs this up, as well as the fact that she is quite literally walking towards the Park MGM casino restrooms (I got food poisoning in Vegas and became intimately familiar with those bathrooms, unfortunately). Maybe she was about to throw up? If she was drunk AF, she maybe needed the bathroom, like, NOW. Also, if you are at a table game, you can't just get up and leave like that UNLESS you are just stepping away and will come right back. There is all kinds of protocol related to counting the chips and stuff that the dealer is responsible for, for each position at the table. So, it is likely she was simply going to the bathroom and not in any shape to have a fan interaction right at that moment.

It seems like your situation was a classic right place, wrong time scenario. I think if you had simply given her a low key "love you Gaga" in passing, without any expectations, you would have left more satisfied. I understand your emotion took over and you felt like you couldn't help yourself, but this is where you went wrong. Her security already had you on their radar and the second time you approached her, they felt you may have stepped over the line. You have to understand their point of view.

No, you don't "love her with all your heart" if you let something as small as this "issue" disregard the fact that she has been very nice to her fans for years, and has been praised by tons of celebrities/fans for being a very nice person in real life.

But like, who's to say if she DID wave, people wouldn't then say "Yeah she waved to us, but the least she could do was come over and say hi". It's a Catch 22. Not saying that you would say this, but I'm sure it applies to some ppl.
